My understanding is that hybrid mix of electric motors and petrol range extender/charger is a likely development ala BMW i3.

Morgan already had an electric 4 wheeler, the car is able to take a range of drive plants as it is a car with a hole to be filled and not a car that is designed around the engine.
I would guess that when the technology is right Morgan will use whatever is on the shelf. Packaging would be the biggest challenge but with no exhaust the space under the wings/running board would accommodate batteries as well as the space where the engine now lives - two wheel motors in the rear wheels no need for a drive shaft all is very possible without veering from the traditional style.
It will be interesting to see how the EV3 goes - I for one could be very tempted by it.

The problem with using hydrogen as a combusted fuel ,as BMW discovered, is its energy density. To get sufficient volume and therefore range the hydrogen tank has to be at cryogenic temperatures, and the insulation surrounding said tank to maintain that temperature is a very large volume. Also, as hydrogen is a tiny atom, it can leach past many seals and even directly through many materials.
Apparently the BMW X5 prototype had no boot space due to the insulation required and would completely empty its tank over the period of a few days even if unused...
We also currently have a liquid fuel delivery infrastructure across the world- the cost to convert to a gaseous system has been estimated in the trillions of dollars
What we need is a renewable liquid fuel and significant investment it atmospheric processing, the Fischer Tropsch process could be used to "recycle" atmospheric carbon dioxide into a hydrocarbon fuel.
Electric cars still have an issue with cradle to grave emissions and recyclability, as the energy put into manufacturing and finally disposing of them outweighs the emissions benefits
All the above is not just conjecture, its derived from a technical paper written by a friend of mine whilst working as a consultant to Lotus, I'll see if I can find a copy to post up

Morgan could consider being a little more adventurous and consider cars powered by hydrogen as this is derived from electrolysis at the petrol station forecourt and very recently shell have installed a very first hydrogen cell pump... I thought the "LIFE" car was supposed to be powered by hydrogen fuel cell?

Quite right G! I don’t know if it actually had a working fuel cell fitted....the car in the museum is purely a stripped body shell.
As far as Morgan not announcing future development at the Geneva Show, can you blame them? If you as a potential purchaser knew that there was something better in the pipeline would you hold on? Not good for sales of the existing cars.

I have absolutely no problem at all with MMC not announcing future development, for 3 reasons:
1. As you quite rightly say Jay, it makes no commercial sense for them to do so
2. It can be figured out anyway by looking at the press releases and the Government grants. HMG is bound to want to see something for its £6m quid
3. It gives a great opportunity for speculation by us lot!

All could be revealed at Geneva 2019. My guess is that it will be safe and affordable developments to protect profits and minimise warranty risks.

Given they are using the 3.7 Mustang engine in trads. already, they have to be looking at the light pressure turbo Ecoboost 4 cylinder engines, used in Mustangs and Focus. The 2.3 produces around 350 bhp and monster torque and the 1.6 is around 220bhp both straight out of the crate. They are current engines with all emission testing done. Power, and current emissions all sorted. What they will do with the Aero though is anyone's guess.
I would put money on the fact that there is now or will soon be a mule running around with one or both these engines in it. (But not running at the same time in the same car of course, that would be just silly!)

Whilst that power looks very tempting it’s too much for a 4/4. BMW is my guess.

I seem to remember the "experts" on here claiming that the Black Aero 8 that went through someone's front garden wall close to the factory was an all electric one a few months back  ..
