Thanks for all the replies to my previous posting and the advice contained therein. I have been along to Paul Harris Tyres this morning and at his recommendation had a set of Vredestein Quatrac 5 fiited and balanced. Paul really is a specialst when it comes to wire wheels and I can thoroughly recommend his service. I will let you know how I get on with the tyres when I have put them through their paces.

Hi,
Glad you are sorted and look forward to hearing how you get on.
Fortunately, I live only a couple of miles from Paul Harris Tyres, and find him first class with an unhurried and friendly approach.
Just for info...... We had an interesting chat about my wire wheels. Why we wondered did Morgan put inner tubes in my tubeless rims (which also had the spoke ends covered in silicon).
We then found yellow stickers inside the rims stating that inner tubes MUST used.
We concluded that at some stage legislation may have changed requiring an inner tube for this particular profile of tubeless rim.

Hi are these Vredestein Quatrac 5 tyres in the 165/80x15 size? I can only find T-trac 2 in this size. Thanks Nigel

Hi Nigel - sorry for dealy in answering your question but we've been away. My tyres are 195/60x15 and they absolutely amazing, its like driving a different car! Try giving Paul Harris a call, he advertises in Miscellany and his number is 0121 311 1969. Cheers Brendan

Thanks - I will do though it’s not local thanks me! I would like to know if that size will fit my ‘05 4/4 without rubbing or other issues, sounds like he should know. Actually you’ve got me wondering- is your car a “low line” body, which would have wider wings and wider rims than mine?

Yes! My car is indeed a "low-line", but I have never been too sure what that exactly means!

Yes! My car is indeed a "low-line", but I have never been too sure what that exactly means! Oh come on it’s obvious isn’t it ‘Lowline’ means er....er....er... wide! Serious factual head on In the 60’s the 4/4 scuttle was higher but a 4/4 could be ordered with a lower scuttle called a Lowline. Later on, all Morgans had the lower scuttle (apart from the 4 seater up to 1999) so in the 90’s Lowline referred to a 4/4 ordered with the wider Plus 4 wings and tyres so if your 4/4 has 195 x 15 wheels then it was referred to as a ‘lowline’ So to recap Many years ago low meant low In the 90’s and 2000’s low meant wide I think

You'll be on about elephants converting the old Morris Oxford into Peugeot lookalikes next Having said that, the history books would agree with you

Not really correct Stewart
The Plus 4 had the higher scuttle and the term lowline came about when a certain Chris Lawrence rebodied TOK with the lower 4/4 body apparently against the wishes of Peter Morgan who wanted to keep the 4/4 and the Plus 4's separate.

Arwyn Yes quite right, I got the models mixed up - it was the plus 4 that was originally the ‘highline’
