We all need somewhere to live in peace really - I don't know enough about the community to comment other than it was quite an occasion to witness and we weren't offered any clothes pegs or bunches of lavender.
I think you may find reason to comment if they moved into your neighbourhood.
I've spent my whole life travelling the world and these people are the lowest of the low.
Unfortunately they are quite prevalent in these parts.
The modus operandi is to buy a small field, pitch up there in their caravan(s), and then say they need facilities for their children who are registered in the local school.
Next thing they're granted permission to build a permanent toilet block and so it starts...
I don't understand why they're given more privileges than the average citizen who wouldn't have a snowballs chance in building in a green field site.
If they want to live in a particular area - buy a house.
Needless to say the kids seldom attend said school but their registration there precludes other local children from gaining a place.
Wherever they pitch up the theft of anything not screwed down increases tenfold.
A local farmer, sick of having his machinery stolen, placed boulders in front of his field gates. They drove through his hedge instead ...
Their young kids drive their horse and traps up and down a busy main road in a town nearby causing chaos with the traffic. The police quite literally look the other way.
To say they've ruined the area is an understatement.
