I will be driving my Morgan in 100+ heat at times (hopefully not very often...) and am very concerned about overheating. I think that the stock fan would by to wimpy for the California heat. I installed a Morgan-Spares high volume cooling fan, but am unhappy with the amount of noise it makes at highway speeds. I want to install electric fans, like I did on my TR3. Unfortunately, there are clearance issues.
The previous owner of my 1953 Flat Rad modified the radiator so it would be removable from the flat rad grill. This would make it so you wouldn't have to take a torch to your chrome if you wanted the radiator worked on. It was always a tight fit for a flat rad between the water pump shaft and the radiator anyway. There is probably only a 1/2" gap there now.
Has anyone with a flat rad +4 fitted electric cooling fans? How did you do it?
I have been looking at 5" diameter fans (both Derale and Spal) and would put in two, one on each side of the water pump shaft. But they are just too wimpy at 315 cfm.
