@ sospan: found the light, found the problem.... see my previous post :-)

I had to crawl under the dash to see the immobiliser light, until I bought chrome crossmember covers. These are in exactly the right position to reflect the light to a 6-footer standing at the passenger door, so, ideal to discourage potential thieves who have brought a 6-foot girl friend along. (All others will see the non-functioning immobiliser light in the dashboard and presume it'll drive off if they break the steering lock).

Has anyone tried to connect up the led to the one in the dash ?
I thought of using some fibre optic, but have been told that the factory have just not bothered to connect it. As Stuart says i’d Prefer that it could be a deterrent.

Ice, the circuit board for the instruments is in the way. I have fitted a clock under the dash and plan to move the light next to the clock. But I had a look for the LED cable- it's cable-tied into the loom and I didn'rt bother to trace it back to see how long it is. The wiring schematic suggests it's not long enough. So, one day I'll get into the dash again and try to untangle it. I looked at fitting a sleeve and fibre optic cable, but wasn't confident about the spec. That might be the way to go. I emailed the factory to ask what they use as a dummy lens, but they must have been busy that day.

Hi. Just a thought whilst reading. When the key is out of the ignition does the PATS led stop flashing when you remove the wiper fuse? If it does you may well have an ecu start up delay.

The ecu will have numerous power feeds that become live when the ignition key is turned on but there will be one +12V pin that keeps it awake and powered even when the key is out (pin 55 on mine). It enables the ecu to stay awake, keep the immobiliser active and also retain the memory. If the flashing PATS led does stop flashing when the fuse is out the stay awake line will have been lost as it’s sharing that fuse too. The ecu will only then get power when the key is first turned on. So it may not start instantly as there will be a finite time for the ecu to come to life.

@ Roger: the wiper fuse does not have an impact on the behaviour of the PATS Led.
