Well, I'm just home.. PHEW..!!
Gobsmacked at the whole thing. Utterly awesome.
Such a Blue Riband, World Class, well organised event. From the attention paid to the camping areas (event volunteers walking around offering you black bin liners for rubbish, toilet block & shower monitors camping behind each block etc) through to EVERYONE involved being so friendly, smiling, chatty and generally upbeat.
Camping over several large fields, car parks over as many again, my feet blistered we walked that much. Steve T had an app running on his phone and we AVERAGED 10 kilometres per day walking..!! Even Stringer doesn't get that over a weekend..!!
Me being the silly billy that I am, managed to leave my phone here at home, so was out of communicado all weekend. Mrs SBM probably wasn't bothered (I rang using a borrowed phone) but having your three buddies dive into a bar leaving me wandering was an issue..
And they drank my pint..
But what an event. What racing, what spectacle, what a massive sensory overload.. Brilliant.
To watch as a flight of three Spits and a Hurricane take off and fly around the site running barrel rolls and flying in close formation was very, very emotional.
So much to talk about, but I'm absolutely shattered..!!!
Time for a brew and catchup on the big screen now...And thanks too to Team WM for all the laughs. Magic.
Steve

Cracking photo Steve 🤓. I’m going to miss that every breakfast time! Just got back home....300 miles in 8 hours 🙄. Some wonderful memories and made so much better sharing with a group of (mad) friends.

Will have to watch the TV report (presently on, but I missed the first 30 mins - bound to be repeated in the next few days). Heading home tomorrow, tours on Wednesday.

So pleased I stayed at Madgwick to watch that race instead of heading off to eat and look at planes. How does one describe talent like that? He's the Herbert Von Karajan of motorcycle racing? I would turn it around; Von Karajan is the Troy Corser of conducting. My point being that Troy takes the art of motorcycle racing to another level. For those who didn't see it, he rode a 1929 BMW through a field of bikes three decades younger and had time to reach out and pat his main rival on the shoulder as he went past on the way to a convincing win. They may look like mere mortals but walking among us are some who extend our understanding of what mortals can do.

The raw sound of that BMW was really quite something.
