Be my guest. And here is how to make gaiters: https://sites.google.com/site/morganatica/70-modifications/front-spring-gaitorsI just made for the rebounds, I think it should be enough. As for the angeled nipples, for instance this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Connect-31218-45-Angle-Grease-Nipple-M10-x-1-0mm-Pack-50-/282310439138?ef_id=:G:s Of course they come in 90 degrees too. Should be easy to get from any mechanical shop. A bit fiddly to change (best to loosen and almost pull off the lower part of the schock to get more workspace), but once they are in it is a real improvement. Mine are 45 degrees.

Regarding king pin wear - the stub axle bit that goes up and down wears the pin most where it sits most of the time. The two ends of the pin don't get rubbed by the bushes so much so don't wear as much as the section that see the action. In the ideal world it would be the bushes that wear but it seems the actual pin does as well. Trouble comes when the car is jacked up and you check for wear - if the stub axle has moved away from its normal sitting position to a relatively unworn bit of kingpin the wear won't be so obvious. Ideally need checking at ride height on a play detector rig like at MOT time. I imagine a car with worn kingpins/bushes would be sloppy in the steering/handling but don't know.
I have greased mine at least every 500 miles - often more like every 250 miles from new. At 7500miles the kingpins were stripped while Wolf performance gaitors/bearings were fitted which allowed inspection of the kingpins for wear. Not knackered but some minor wear was measured - based on which Cain reckoned they would need changing by the time 20K was covered - less if I reduced my frequent nipple attentions! I reckon 20K isn't a disaster really as the job is straight-forward and can-be budgeted for - once done with hard chrome pins I guess it'll last longer too.
BHM Keith told me not to overdo the top ones - max 4-5 pumps I think he said or you risk over-filling and removing suspension travel.
