I have no doubt whatsoever that this thread will be grabbed by the unworthy, and dragged through the dust of thread drift.
However I have a serious question....................
A poll of opinions..........
About electrical connections.
When I clean my battery terminals, which every conscientious owner should do occasionally, I lick the battery terminals round with Vaseline before replacing the leads. But does Vaseline conduct electricity? I doubt it does, so what's the alternative?
Then again, on chassis earth points, metal on metal, I would usually use Coppaslip. Assuming that the 'copper' content (if any) will conduct. Is it better to shine up the metal, bolt it up, and maybe dribble ACF50 over the joint???
Lets have some views please...................

I always thought the Vaseline was put on after bolting up the terminals to keep the moisture out and stop corrosion.
Vaseline was used long before the arrival of ACF50 so I'm tempted to say clean the terminals, bolt them up then apply the ACF 50 which is designed for electrical connections and will bleed into the joint.
ACF50 actually mentions battery terminals on the packaging.

I use this as it's conductive. Lithium grease aerosol I used LM grease until it appeared they both prevent corrosion effectively. Dow Corning This stuff is brilliant at preventing ingress of moisture for general exposed connectors and batteries.

I use Dielectric Silicon Grease on exposed connections. Satnav contacts on the bike, all plug together wire terminals etc etc. I've even smeared it on rubber door seals around car doors to avoid freezing up in cold weather. Now..about dragging the thread through the smut.. would we..?

I have used something called No Krode or No Corrode or similar product. I think it was made by Holts and came in a toothpaste type tube. It was red in colour. A quick internet search failed to find it but came up with a similar product made by Veraschem, see http://www.itwconsumer.com/versachem-products/product.cfm?id=Battery%20No%2DCorrode%20Gel%2C%20Pocket%20Pack-162
and Halfords do battery anti corrosion pads at £1 for a pair, helpfully one red, one black. Not very clear how they work.

Tony I still use the red Holts stuff, mind you the tube must be 20+ years old !

Yes, it was Holts No-crode. It came up on a search leading to eBay, of course! There are similar products on eBay such as Durite anti corrode battery gel.
