As part of my preparation for buying a Morgan I've been looking for a garage. I live in a village and my house is adjacent to a large green that I cannot drive over. Garages are in short supply and I might have to hasten someone's demise to get one, but this could take some time. Fear not, I'm not going to ask advice on how to do this but I wondered if anyone stores their Morgan outside. If so, how does it fare? From both a security point of view and general weather protection.

When I was in a similar predicament many years ago, I happened upon an old lady with an empty garage, five doors away.
She was so pleased to have company that she didn't charge me rent.
Try asking around, you might drop lucky!

I think KevFitz keeps his outdoors all year round but he uses it most days.
Keeping it outdoors and only occasional use could be more of a problem I fear.

Mine is on the drive at the front of the house - usually under a 5 layer cover - Metex or something - anyway one that breathes and does not scratch. Very often left uncovered and seems to suffer no illl effects - occasionally I get people ringing the doorbell to ask what car it is etc. But I agree with Dave - ask around.

my 93 car has lived outside on my drive plugged in to a battery conditioner for 5 years. I use 3 Halfords cheap covers, rotating them, ie. taking off a wet one, using the car and putting on a dry one and putting the wet one in a tumble drier on low heat. The theory is that the light weight covers billow about and allow air to circulate, they do not scuff the paint being light. I try to use the car once or twice a week to blow any damp out, (unless there is salt on the roads). ACF 50 is used liberally on body joints and any engine metal, inner panels, nuts and wheels especially in winter. mostly the hood is packed away but when the weather gets really bad I put it up to get more air circulation inside, (still under a cover though).Gliptone leather treatment keeps the leather soft. Nice to have a garage but don’t let it deter you from owning a Morgan if can’t have one.

http://www.thecarapace.com/http://www.thecarapace.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/review_page.pdfThis solution is brilliant if you - A. Have somewhere to put it, and b. If you sort the finances to fund/buy it. Regarding A, its not huge and no planning permission is needed. Regarding B its not cheap but then nor is a Morgan! I was renting a very damp lock up and opted for a carapace to save the rental costs and also to provide a better conditions. Sorry can't answer the original question about outside storage.

That’s a great piece of kit Andy, if didn’t have my garage I would certainly have one.
