I do like the look of them though , I had a black and silver 6 1/2 by 7 inch on my M3W , got caught speeding twice , no mention of the plate .
Also had a long chat with a couple of traffic cops while filling with petrol , they didn't seem bothered ...

Here you are...enlarged from a photo is the makers Address and name...

The BS Number is on the bottom edge at the right.

So they appear to be legal. But I bought them from another seller, see the next post.

Thank you Peter. I've sent an enquiry to see how small I am legally allowed.

I have "German Style" pressed metal plates, in the modern colours. As my Registration is only 6 characters, including the space, the plates are shorter.

The producer assured me that are 100% legal as the gap between each letter/number and the black edge of the plate is exactly as specified, as is the font. top and bottom.
When I called them told me that if I had a single Letter-Number registration, for example "A1" the number plate could be very small!!

Peter, pressed metal plates are not legal. Your plate does not have the BSAU number nor the makers name / or post code. Your supplier knows well enough it's not legal otherwise his name or postcode would be on it. Same goes for Craig no BSAU number or makers name / postcode.

Hi Keith

Mine did have have the makers name/BSAU number, but I have since reduced the plate in sizes (keeping it within the legal limits 11mm etc) resulting the BSAU number being removed.

Is this still not legal ?

It is a requirement but because you haven't altered anything else I doubt you would ever get stopped.
