I wonder if the family have kept the freehold? It might be that the land was bought back on the strength of the forthcoming company sale, and the rent/lease would then continue to deliver some income. https://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/morgan-motor-company-re-acquires-malvern-home-land-acquisition-deal/

Interesting thought. I would have thought that the land would have been vested in the business and therefore would comprise part of the assets of the company and which the new majority owner now effectively controls.

I follow this discussion with interest and a little melancholy. I too would have been the third generation of a family-run company. In the best times there were 100 employees. But I had to make a different decision for very personal reasons.
Back to Morgan. I can understand everything very well. Above all, the very large investments that have to be made in order to continue to build cars in the future that a) can be registered and b) meet the expectations of a new generation.
There is only one thought that I, as an outsider, would like to express very amateurishly. If the money had voted for the Morgan family, it might have been a safer investment if BMW had appeared. The BMW brand would look after and manage a great old English brand. In addition, although financially in a different league, BMW is still family-run. It would have been a more stable marriage in the medium and long term.
And there is a common history between BMW and the UK in the form of the Frazer Nash, a BMW 328. That would be much more authentic than VW's stupid stake in Lamgorghini...

One by one Morgan looses its romantic and idiosyncretic aspects, we trade in wood for alluminium, flex chassis for a rigid one, atmoshoeric for turbo, 8 becomes 6 becomes 4, uk for Italy, where does this end? Cheers, Bert
