Plus 6 is very nearly the perfect Mog for me. The bedstead trad is an anachronism.
a manual box would be better.
a lower priced nasp 2.5 I6 with 200hp+ and strong torque would be ideal.
The Aero based Plus 8 was always an ugly half-baked design.

i think the market for bedsteads is dying away (literally) and the ali tub will be the model in demand moving forward.

A very thought provoking question and point by Heinz.

I am really impressed with the plus 6 idea - the "metric" Morgan. Looks stunning but well out of my budget.

How do I feel about the 4/4 by comparison? Time will tell.

However I have a "modern", or metric if you like, BMW MINI CooperS as well as a traditional run-out classic mini from 2000. The CooperS is much faster, dripping with toys and driver aids and dynamically a far better car than the old style classic mini. It also cost much more than the trad mini. The same ratio as the metric Morgan over the 4/4 actually. The BMW version is a brilliant car but...and its a big but......the classic mini is more fun to drive and has more character. The same conclusion about the new metric Morgan wouldn't surprise me at all.

I guess the fact that the trad is an anachronism is why it appeals to me.

I don't intend this to be insulting to Aero trad owners but to me the trad shape on modern underpinnings is kind of a replica. I fully accept my view is probabaly in the minority, when the Aero Plus 8 was launched, I thought to myself "I will be surprised if they sell 20!.

I think your choice of the term 'replica' is a better expression of what I meant by 'pastiche'. If you want a trad then buy one. If you want a modern chassis, why add a trad body to it?

When I ordered my Plus 4 in 2007, the dealer in Oslo warned me that a trad-looking Morgan with modern suspension might be right around the corner. Fortunately, I did not wait for the new model!

I've never fancied anything they've made since the seventies so it won't make any difference to me.

For performance and handling, chuckability aside, and given the old chassis, I'm happy with what I've got. With the exception of one or two limited editions, it must be the best iteration of the live axle steel chassis cars given the 5 link rear.

It was a stretch for me financially, so the +6 however more sophisticated would have been a stretch too far.

The plus 6 looks good to me too, however it hasn't got that sound and pricing in Kiwi $ is ludicrous .

And in AUD$ with the Luxury Car Tax!

Don't forget though that this is not the entry point model it is the top of the line. I'm only surprised that they don't have the Aero 6 ready for release too. I feel sure that this would have been the original plan.
