More TM ers brain pickin..... no g. I need to Jack the rear end and relieve the pressure on the springs to clean and lube, as I guess this is the cause of the rear end squeak !... So where is the best point to use on the chassis to do this ,Cus if I jack under the diff the leafs will still be under load.

My advice would be to buy yourself some motorcycle chain lube/wax. (Castrol or Halfords own)
Brilliant stuff for use on the leaf springs.

I use a 2 tonne trolley jack, with pads, on the axle and always use axle stands (and wooden blocks) before crawling underneath.
Other TMers will, I’m sure, suggest alternative jacking methods.

Some advice here

As you say, you can't jack under the axle because that won't relieve the load on the springs.

However I would never jack on the axle. I always use the rear crossmember with a wooden pad to protect it.

Newer cars have the rear valance partly covering the crossmember but I believe there is still room.

Then put prop stands, again with pads, at the outer edges of the crossmember and lower the jack onto them.

I use very heavy duty prop stands with a bigger base area and then move the jack out for easy access.

You can also get good access from above by taking the tool tray out .This enables you to oil the handbrake cables at the same time .

Top answers. Thanks everybody. Iv ordered some Wurth chain cleaner and dry Lube. I will try the tool tray removal method before jacking. Might be simpler.

Doing it from underneath also allows you to give things a good check up and remember if you only use the tool tray access method, you're not unloading the springs.

Nothing beats lying on your back with dirty hands.

Also, Take out spare wheel to give closer access to far ends and shackle pins.

I use bike chain lube every 24 months or if it gets squeaky.
I take out the spare & the tool tray.
It works for me.

SteveH, when you buy your chain lube just check it says 'safe with O rings' that way it's safe to give the rubbers in the shackles a good soaking too, they are often the source of the squeak
