This shouldn’t do this, I’ve had the same problems, it split my fuel tank in the end.

Luckily my car was still under warranty, and the tank was replaced, the car also had to go back to the factory in the end to have the breathing issues fixed.

Modern cars do vent the tanks but they go through an activated charcoal filter first.

There should be no negative or positive pressure in the tank at any time.

Craig,

Did you find out what the cause was for the vacuum when the factory sorted it?

To test whether air is rushing in or out of the tank fix a rubber glove over the filler before releasing the cap.

Mine wasn't a simple fix. There's lots going on with the modern Morgan fuel tanks, with roll over valves, charcoal canisters, computers that tell the valves when to purge the canister of vapour etc etc. Not like the older cars with self vented fuel filler caps.

The first thing to check (IMO) is the roll over valve (No 18 in the image) but this isn't easy to access on Sports with no spare wheel.

My previous S1 Roadster definitely had negative pressure in the tank, if you fuelled up soon after stopping in a PFS, however never had any fuel related issues in 10 yrs, but back then tanks were steel

I don't get any neg or pos pressure in my tank but after filling up fuel fumes until the tank goes down to about half full, any ideas?

The first thing I would check is the rubber fuel filler hose and venting pipe.
Remove the spare wheel and have a look. They tend to age harden.

Simon have checked the connections are tight now considering changing them all.
