Thinking of chucking a few quid in a peer to peer lending platform such as Funding Circle, the house crowd or similar ? Not vast amounts, couple of k.
Does anyone have any experiences with such things ?

Not on a platform but on a private basis - after Basel II the conditions for small businesses were horrible. So this makes sense, is fun and taking real risk...
Some of my friends put money on crown funding platforms - to be honest - after the first adventure stories I never heard about real success.

I have invested in a lending fund in Australia which gives good rates. It is one of the biggest in Australia and only lends against secure mortgages. I think as long as there is not a real financial collapse it should be reasonably safe and the risk is spread across many mortgages. I would move the funds out of Australia but I can't get anything like the same returns in Italy.
The same fund also offers good returns on peer-to-peer and they do keep sending me mails about it. I must admit I am tempted but I think I would want to be pretty sure about the security: first mortgage, good property, etc. For me it is a long way away if something goes wrong. Their 4 year managed fund actually offers better returns than many of the peer-to-peer offers.

Had a look at funding circle a few years back as a mate recommended it. He was at the time getting 8% gross. But I decided against as not covered by the FSA.

The fact the monies are spread among many lenders helps. Im only looking at making a few quid, just wondered if , on the whole, people get back money rather than lose. I am green around the gills with investing i must admit Cheers folks
