I got lucky and posted on one of the websites that I regularly comment on, along with asking a family member who is an aero-space engineer to do some calculations for me. The CG for the trailer unloaded is 4ft behind the coupler, when loaded engine first tongue weight is 450-500lbs. When loaded rear first, the CG moves back to 9 feet on the trailer (2 feet in front of the trailer axle) and then the tongue weight sits at about 300lbs with a Sherline scale to measure it correctly.

I know it looks goofy, but because the weight of trailer is only 1200lbs and the morgan is 1300. Having engine first and a tongue weight of 500lbs was way too high. If I had a full-size truck it wouldn't be to bad, but with the CX-9 as my tow vehicle I need to make sure I'm in the heart of 10-12% on the hitch.

Brilliant! Good job on the homework 👍

What is the tow vehicle?

It's a '19 CX-9. The trailer has electric brakes and a weight distribution hitch as well. I'm 1,000lbs under the max tow capacity, but the trailer is very tall so that's the give and take.

Sweet! The height is nice so you can stand up in it. You might be able to rig a fold down bunk in it as well smile

I'm just glad that you were thinking ahead and that it all worked out for you, CG wise.
