Starting this morning and perhaps getting slightly worse throughout the day I have what I would describe as a sticky throttle.
I noticed this morning that I appeared to have cruse control after the car continued forward at around 30mph without my foot on the accelerator. This continued when I stopped at traffic lights with the engine on a high rev idle with the clutch pedal down.
A quick blip of the accelerator tends to sort it.
I would really like to sort this out myself as I'm a long way from a Morgan Dealer. (Sheffield) Where do I start!? A bit of lubricant on a cable somewhere I presume?
The car is around a year old with roughly 2k miles. I've not done much to it other than move the pedals back a few weeks after I got it last spring.

I had the same problem. If I recall rightly, I think there was a spring involved and it had broken and needed replacing.

A frayed throttle cable maybe, or lubrication if it is actually sticking? Also a faulty idle air control motor or wheel speed sensor will hold the revs higher than normal.

I had the same problem. If I recall rightly, I think there was a spring involved and it had broken and needed replacing. Return spring on the throttle pedal.

I've heard of throttle cables 'sticking' a couple of times recently. Does anyone lubricate the cable as part of their preventative maintenance?

I had my throttle cable touching the cylinder and melted just enough to get the throttle to stick from time to time.....it was quite interesting to drive sometimes until I found the problem..:-)

Bear in mind that if the throttle is stuck slightly open then the car won't start.

Bear in mind that if the throttle is stuck slightly open then the car won't start. That is an interesting and useful fact.
