I noticed this air intake solution on Bring A Trailer ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/10/03/1966_morgan_4_drophead_coupe_1565652278cfcd2460A78CE-79FB-4647-9C64-B60381366881-620x465.jpg) It was on a 66 Drophead Coupe with the 2138 cc engine. Any idea if this is something that is available on the market?

I think a few cars were fitted with a similar intake in the 60s.
No it is not available on the market now, and with good reason.
The forward carb does not receive enough airflow, so runs out of balance with the rear. This is not good engineering practice.
If you want to use an air filer , use one on each carb. It is just possible to do this without cutting the bonnet, but many 60s cars had the scoop fitted for just this reason. If you want to fit 2 x 42DCOE8s then a scoop is essential.

Is there a part number or a supplier name for the sort of filter that would fit without butchering the bonnet?

Is there a part number or a supplier name for the sort of filter that would fit without butchering the bonnet? NO:If You want a proper filter on Your '60's +4. As I drive My +4 all over the U.S. I opted to butch the bonnet and fit TR air filters. Not sure if this is cost effective. I have never been able to not rebuild My TR engine with more than 100,000 miles on it. Usually 60 to 80,000 and something happens that requires at least a partial rebuild. Maybe no filter, at least in wet climates are OK. Getting fresh cool air to the carbs maybe more important. Not and expert.

In Florida I only get warm to hot salty air. I've thought about fabricating a wire mesh cover (like on a tea strainer) to at least keep out the love bugs.

Fred Sisson who assembled a catalog of +4 data in the U.S. has a quote "My Mog eats rocks". Kind of sets the bar on this subject.

Have a look at the bug covers they fit to RV furnace and water heater air inlets.

I had a 1956 +4 4 seater fitted with a 2138 cc TR engine on Stromberg carbs. Never found a front air filter to fit under the bonnet, even tried hammering one to shape. I then driove the car for 18 years with no filters. There was no adverse effects on the engine. but their is a lot of damp air on in Wales.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.
