My 97 +4 has the square style rear fog & reverse lights bolted on to be above the bumper.
This means the luggage rack can't be fully opened as it hits the fog light making taking off the spare difficult.
They also look odd vs the rest of the lights.

They also can't be turned to below the bumper as the reverse light would foul the exhaust.

I was thinking of fitting the lights fitted to the Roadster on the number plate holder.

Does anyone know if these are effectively the same lights as the turn & break lights and where I could buy them & the square ended plinth?

The Roadster fog lamp & reversing lamp are very similar to the other lights. The main difference is that the lenses screw on to the body of the lamp, rather than fit with two screws. In this case the lenses are 'riveted' onto the screw assembly. So what you would expect to be screwheads, look like smooth flat rivet heads. The reversing lens appears to be the same part as is sold as a clear indicator lens. The fog warner is not the same as the red rear lenses - its shape is the same as the front indicators, whereas the standard rear lenses are more of a cone. You can get most things from any Dealer. I've just bought a front lens from Rutters and they were quick & easy to deal with. So you should be able to get the lamp parts, but the Roadster number plate holder is more than it looks, it curves under to form the lower valance, and is designed to fit with overriders - so there is a hole each side. I suspect that part (which is plastic) will be pricey. It will also come unpainted. You might need to improvise a bit!!! innocent

PS - Not sure how this works with Roadster with full bumpers.

Dave,
Thanks that was my worry , that it isn't quite as simple as it looks.
I also popped into the Haynes museum this weekend on the way to see my mother in Devon & looked at the 1980 +8 they have which has smaller mini style lights screwed directly to the number plate holder.

I also just spotted some holes in the luggage rack frame clearly designed to move the lights to & not used used by the first owner; so for now I save the cash & buy some stainless nuts & bolts.
John

I agree the fitment of rear fog and reversing lights looks a bit 'add on' still while musing about this I backed into a wall at the dealer and cracked the reversing light, misery - then I realised I had saved the rear bumper which is a tad expensive to replace - joy ..... since decided to leave well alone

now I have a Librands rack which gives me a good rear overhang, hopefully next time car is saved by the shopping - phew!

PS the +8 at Haynes looks a bit sad I thought, needs a better home and a good thrash every now and then, ps I live in Devon so hope to see John around, see above post.

Yes I think all the cars at Haynes look neglected. I just was at the National Motor Cycle Museum & that looked better.

I'll let you know when /if I am next driving down to Torbay to see my mum

Very old post so probably sorted now. But I obtained a spare pair of brake lights from the factory and mounting pods, these now sit slightly lower and inner than the actual brake lights, and act as fog lights, for reversing lights a set of old lucas lights off a mark 3 spitfire sit on just outside the number plate.
