Hello, I am in the process of building what will be my version of a M3W. I am hoping some of the members here can help me with various bits about theirs. I would love to just purchase a real Morgan, but I don't see that being a financial possibility in my lifetime. I am, however, pretty handy with design and fabrication so I figured I could build my own for a fraction of the cost, and know I will be able to work on it and get the parts when the time arises. I have purchased and read the book, Build Your Dream!: The process and thinking behind building a replica Morgan 3-Wheeler. I would like my version to be quite a bit different though.
Base/Donor bike is a BMW R1100RT. I intend on using the factory Paralever (shaft drive), ABS and gauges. Intermediate housing between engine and transmission is my design and will NOT use or require a compensator due to the engine selection Transmission is a Mazda Miata NB 5 speed Transfer case (in place of the M3W Bevel Box) is my own design Basic vehicle dimensions will be similar to a M3W with the exception of mine being wider as I am a bit on the wide side myself and want to be comfortable. frame will be steel tubing TIG welded and body panels will be aluminum and composite.
I'll post a few pics once I figure out a way to get the file size down to the 1kb limit.
If anyone on here has done what I am trying to do I would love to hear from you!

Welcome Rob, that is quite a project you have on there way beyond my level of knowledge or abilities, good luck it will be good to have pictures. Have you tried the TM site for photographs, it downsizes automatically and walks you through each step of the way https://www.tm-img.com/login

Good luck. You will find a wealth of engineering expertise on the Three Wheeler section of the site. There is nothing that some of the boffins there cannot design and fabricate.

If I might make a suggestion Rob I think you will get a better response to your questions if posted in The Three Wheeler section of the forum

That puts in the required img tags in square brackets - see above. The forum software limits embedded images to 10 per post. This is the last one. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/11/19/OUTPUT-SHAFT.jpg)

You plan to use the shaft drive (Paralever) from the donor BMW. Any reason why you are not using the BMW bevel box rather than constructing a transfer box? Intriguing project...I’m really looking forward to seeing some progress photos in time!

John. If he is using the MX5 gearbox he needs to shift the output to one side to line up with the rear bevel drive. An easier option may be to use the BMW box but then you don't have a reverse gear. Some of the trike people use an electric motor for reverse and there is also a little reverse drive box available.
