Prescott Hill Control on competition days. Marshal on driving school and "corporate/club" days. Plus the occasional other motorsport event. Safety radio on various other things (e.g. horse / running). Sometimes wonder where I find all the time!

Graham.... I've rolled past your window at Prescott a few times then.... Many thanks for facilitating my fun! Having only been to the hill twice I'm well off the pace of the other BHC hotshots in my class who've driven the hill a hundred times.... Immensely enjoyable hill (and love the Bugatti Centre) and intend to make the trip there again this season at least once (in spite of its being just over 1000 miles round trip towing).... I'll make a point of saying hello

I think in my opinion the real shame would be if the entry level Morgan is 60k! If the 4/4 is not replaced then that is approx 33% more than the current cost (39k?) for an entry level 4/4.
I remember just a few years ago a 4/4 started a lot cheaper, early to mid 30s which I felt was sensible. It certainly didn't do Morgan any harm over the years and allowed many people to justify and enjoy their cars, 60k is a lot of cash and I do fear a lot of enthusiasts will be priced out of ownership, how this will effect the future I don't know but it does seem to go against the philosophy Peter Morgan had, to provide affordable fun sports cars..

You are forgetting that the possible PlusThree could be the entry level Morgan.

Yes, please do pay us a visit in Hill Control. The cCoCs will usually let drivers pop in to see us (mostly drivers wish to talk to timekeepers - they sit to our left ).

Possible is the bit that worries me, I think having an accessible entry level car is very important - it makes the marque seem achievable and often that entry level ownership will bring with it future upgrades. Here is crossing fingers!

A NI / nonturbo engine might also to be a better fit for many Mog owners! And you could go even cheaper for the 1.5 rather than 2.0 engine. Plus4: Yep fully believe that could the the 2.0 engine and turbo from the BMW wholesale division. But would only save 10K at most over the +6?

I already had the idea to use the MX5 Skyactive engine. But two years ago so that the trad 4/4 could be built further. Of course I didn't know then that MMC would crush everything but CX. A 4/4 CX with the same wide dimensions and wide tyres as the Plus 6 but a weak small engine would be too boring for me. The attractiveness of the 4/4 is precisely the light-footed car with the narrow tyres. Even if the Plus 6 weighs only 1150Kg (and a turbo 4 cylinder will hardly be much lighter), it is no comparison to a filigree sporty Trad 790 Kg 4/4.

I think the problem for MMC is where the next generation of new Morgan drivers are coming from. Younger people do not see the Morgan as a car to put on their shopping list, it's too old fashioned, which of course is its' very raison d'être to us. MMC have tried a few 4/4 iterations, even 2 speedsters if you remember, which didn't sell and had to be changed into one of those 'anniversary' models.
The only step that makes sense then, is to go upmarket, which is where they now are, so it will be interesting to see if this is the right decision for the long term future of the company.
