Madmax that is an interesting post. It sums up a lot of unknowns. I have a trad Plus8 and love it. Getting older means (as Ray said above) keeping the Morgan experience with a modern base. Therefore one obstacle to moving to the CX platform might be removed.The Plus6 is ££££££ but a Plus4 might fall into sensible-ish man maths range. A second unknown is the engine power/torque characteristics compared to the Plus8. Yes, adjusting to it would be necessary so if it was a decent output engine then that would lessen the change barrier.
DIY would be less due to complexity but not a bad thing in the end. I bet there will still be potential for owner tweeks though! Owners of current Aero based cars have posted many.

Having bitten the bullet and put a turbo in the +6 I would think a turbo 2.0 litre would be the natural way forward.
The wonderful thing about turbo petrol is you can tune them very cheaply with a remap.
I had a BMW 220i and the standard 190 bhp was plenty for me in a heavy car.
If, like Madmax, this may not be enough for £350 for a remap you could increase the power by 80 bhp.
This may sound dangerous but this is the same as the 228i produces from the same engine.

Having read all the various thoughts and opinions on this thread I must confess it has helped to clarify my thoughts.
I own a pretty expensive sports car through events which I would have preferred had not happened. I love my mog. The past 12 months of ownership have been more enjoyable and fun than I ever thought could be possible- it’s been an absolute hoot, every ruddy second behind that beautiful Motolita wheel. I feel v lucky to have such a “toy”.
However, I have loved Morgan’s for many years based on how they look and the traditions and general Britishness behind MMC that give me a certain pride. Also a certain type seems to share these feelings (based in part on the people here on TM) and I feel privileged to share your emotions. However, I didn’t want a Morgan for fettling myself (due to a lack of skill) nor for driving in fear of ending up on two wheels, with two left in a hole, on the local roads (coz they really are crap here in this area (I’ve had to go back twice in last two weeks to the tyre place at £100 a time to get my wheels balanced and realigned due to persistent pothole ingress)) because the suspension cannot deal with anything greater than a blade of grass.
If the new Plus 4 has an auto box and semi modern suspension I admit it is aimed at myself and Lady HB. If it costs between £55k-£65k some of that cost may be covered by the sale of Florence if I’m lucky, but, regardless of this and despite the EV talk, if I get 10-20 years or so driving a more comfortable Mog (with ability to occasionally share the driving with Lady HB), I will be a happy man plus, between you and I, Lady HB may be more willing to go on longer holidays in the car which is a big deal for me.
I really can’t wait for what might be on the horizon!

HB Yes well put, but just goes to show how our needs differ and how well (in most part) a Morgan is able to meet them. I personally have no desire to change from my trad and I shudder at the thought of moving to an EV. I have driven them, a few, and each one was capable and in the main quick but totally soul-less. I want a sports car to be quick (ish) but also it has to be manual, no paddles please, no power steering or assisted gizmos. I like the relative simplicity (i can do most things on it) and the quirky roughness of it, even the suspension and handling i find quite adequate for my use. I also like the noise, the raspy, burbly exhaust note and the fact that it has to be driven well to get the best out of it. Changing gears at the right moment and taking sweeping bends on roads well away from motorways are a pure joy to me. Thats the pleasure and its even better when shared with some like minded pals. No, i won't go for an EV or indeed a CX based Morgan, costs aside, its just one step too far away from all the reasons i chose my Morgan but i fully appreciate why it would be a good fit for others. My sentiments exactly

To make it simple and short, I love my 4/4 for exactly what it is. I don't worry if younger people don't know what I like about my 4/4 anymore. It's like guitar amps. I wouldn't want to miss my tube amps. I have a thousand reasons. But if young people soon don't know that anymore, then let them play their digital modeling amps. I can't stop the course of the world and the new generation doesn't understand what I like about the old stuff anyway, whether it's cars or guitar amps. I don't care about that. And I think they also don‘t care but they will make their own journey.

Heinz... +1 for that.... You can only walk the path that feels right for you..... Our love of 'character' things makes us a minority in our own generation... I know a few much younger people who 'get it' and am hopeful that there will be enough to carry the torch for the future. There will aways be that band of oddballs that take the road less travelled.

But about Morgan: Maybe the times for the old fashion style and technology that I love are over? Today's regulations change so much on the vehicle that only an old-fashioned looking "LOTUS" remains. Reading through this thread, the thought struck me that I can maybe trade my old +8 (with it's moss box) for a new +4 and a little cash. That would give my old bones heated seats, aircon in summer and a new vehicle that doesn't need fettling every time it leaves the garage.
I paid 1720 pounds in 1973 for the car and after a rebuild in the 1980's its probably just about kept up with inflation.
On the subject of EV's I could use one for shopping and towing behind our motorhome but I feel they are impractical for travelling long distances. There a story out today about a trip from Chicago to LA in a Tesla with total of 7 hours recharge time in addition to normal food etc. stops. That sort of wasted time would drive me crazy.

Graham.... As you suspect.... Coming out of top ess at Shelsley.... Did most of the BHC rounds last year (Channel Islands too expensive and missed Wiscombe due to blowing up two engines in the space of three weeks!!).... Will no doubt be down for at least one Shelsley and Prescott this season.... But being based 40 miles north of Aberdeen the travel for the complete calendar proved just too brutal. Do you race??
