Thanks Geoff. I will look into your suggestions although wanted the simplest solution, so maybe an extra fabricated bracket utilising existing catch mounts. Main issue is that whatever bonnet stay pivot point I use, it will necessarily be that much closer to inside edge of bonnet in closed position.

Richard, I thought all the 3.7's were supplied with 'factory' stays ?

Yes they are, but untethered ones. Having witnessed a gust of wind lifting the bonnet off same on a new car, I decided I wanted secured fittings each end and this thread has got me investigating. Have already purchased 6mm stainless rod and matching fittings from bearing boys.

Yes, I must admit they are a bit 'basic' & mine reside in the spares bin

Hi Richard, I was thinking about that this morning and the possibility of dog legs in the stay.

Perhaps £3 spent on a length of 8mm Ali tube from Wickes to experiment with?

Anyway, best of luck and I love the morgan script on black engine thingy!

Thanks again Geof. A lot depends on access to the fixings of existing lower bonnet catch on inside of footwell. Will know more when I next visit my garage although concerned the nuts are hidden under glued down carpet!

Will then take the easiest adequate solution to minimise fabrication work.

I went the same way as Chris but put the males on the bonnets as it seems more intuitive pulling the catch down to engage them rather than across.

Hi Tmg513
Did you mount the angle bracket underneath the bonnet catch to prevent it twisting round in use?

Chris,
I note hex domes on your bonnet catch. What's on the exterior? Back to back fittings?

Just interested

There was a bit of that plus the bracket fouled the angle that runs most of the length of the catch putting in on top.
