I’m really sad to hear the news. Bill was a bit of an icon to me....I loved his posts, his determination, his refreshing take on all things Morgan and his bitsas. He’s had a good innings which is at least a blessing. I rarely do this with people who are not close to me...but R.I.P Bill Button.

It is so nice to hear so many kind words about Button. I am still processing this horrendous loss to the entire Morgan community around the world. And I mean that sincerely, as he travelled far and wide and loved doing so. Bill and I became quite close this past year or so and he really opened my eyes to the joy of exploring all kinds of roads in a Morgan. I know that I was just one among his "harem" (Button traveled the world with quite a few lucky ladies) but I was very much looking forward to being his date at his 90th birthday later this month, and we had plans to travel to MOG 50 in July as well as an extended road trip in the fall. He had an amazing zest for life that was contagious, and in a short time I had come to love him something fierce. I feel very fortunate that I was able to say goodbye on the phone yesterday - he had suffered severe injuries in a car accident and we both knew that I would not make it there in time. Bill Button was a true gentleman and I for one will never forget him. I am grateful for every minute that we spent together. -Tcherek

Lorne has put a lovely picture of Bill up on his site too. I've felt very reluctant to post about Bill Button's passing since learning of it early this am. Even after periods of soulful reflection on and off throughout a busy day, acceptance of his passing seemed difficult. Now, after gaining knowledge of the actual cause of his demise I lament the event even further. No, I never even had the privilege of meeting him in person but his ambiance was present in all things and events Morgan and that established us, in my view at least, as soul-mates. Tcherek you are to be jealously envied for having had such a close rapport with him. My condolences to you and to members of his immediate family, also all other friends and associates most precious to him. And now, after all is said and done, it really was "Just A Bitsa" wasn't it Bill?........

Oh dear! That puts a rather different complexion on it. The initial post was that he had died in his sleep but now we learn that it was as the result of injuries received in a serious road accident. That really does leave me saddened. There is not much more one can say except that my heart goes out to his family and friends.

I received this yesterday - further explanation...
---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: "John Burks" Date: Feb 5, 2020 8:11 AM Subject: Bill button
It is with deep sadness that we share with you the passing of a Morgan legend. Our friend and fellow enthusiasitc traveler, Bill Button, passed away last night at OHSU in Portland., surrounded by family and friends. He had sustained fatal injuries from a single car accident on Jan29 while driving his new/old Miata on Hwy 101 to visit the Burks in Brookings. The weather was a factor -heavy rain and fog. Bill was doing what he loved best. And he was enjoying his drive. As of now there is no memorial planned we will keep you in touch. Please forward to anyone that we missed. We all cared. John and Barbara Burks

Tcherek, that is such sad news. Didn’t know/correspond with Bill until the last 12 months or so so but he seemed a v nice chap. My sympathies for your loss of a good friend and that of his family. A big loss to the Morgan family as well HB

I lived, for a time, on hwy 101 just north of Brookings (Gold Beach) the road is treacherous and the storms off the pacific can be something fierce. Once again a great loss.
