Between yesterday and tonight I was able to get the flywheel stub shaft turned down and splines milled in for a perfect fit. These are 32 count 30deg. PA involute splines and is typically found on a Chevrolet TH-400 transmission. I am now complete with all the driveline splines. (thank goodness, they are an art to make) I put the assembly in my lathe and turned it up to 1200 rpm and there was no vibration or out of round issues.

So that’s how splines are cut, very cool. Wish I had a lathe......and knew how to work one 😄
Thanks for showing that. This whole process is riveting. There is an illustrated book in this whole project 👍🏻

Brilliant Rob, how do you accurately turn the chuck for each spline 'cut' ?
