When my son moved to California 3 years ago he bought a new V8 Mustang for about $28,000. The exchange rate was about $1.5 / £ at that time, so he paid about £19,000.
It was a basic, low spec dealer forecourt car so doesn't have any bells or whistles. It isn't remotely sophisticated or refined and has a bit of a drink problem, but at that price its residual value isn't really relevant. When / if he comes back to the UK I am sure that he could bring it with him and sell at very little if any loss.
Value for money and character it has by the bucket load.

The V8 model has an on the road price of £43,750 in the UK. Looks like £43K too much to me? 
Honesty means doing it right, even when no one is looking!

We’ve had our Mustang for over two years now, it’s a brilliant car and not a single problem, handling is spot on too once we changed the useless tyres it came with. A 5 litre V8 with a manual box is the key feature, I’m not aware of any alternative currently available if that’s what you like and I for one do.

Thank goodness for personal choice and the ability to still enjoy an old school V8 if that is your thing.

Love the Mustang, myself. Real old school American muscle car. Yes, they are not as refined as their European rivals, but at least that lack of refinement keeps them affordable.
In many ways, European sports cars have just got totally up themselves in their quest for refinement and exclusivity. Refinement invariably leads to expensive cars and high depreciation so fewer and fewer people can enjoy high performance. Surely that's why we like Morgan's.
The Americans take a more democratic approach to sports cars. Long may the Mustang continue.

I'm with ewn and Quicksilver on this.... The Americans have built some cracking cars over the years and the recent breed of Mustang/Charger/Camaro are a return to their roots after some time wandering in the bland Wilderness.... Not everyone's cup of tea (or coffee)... And different in basic philosophy from European performance cars.... But heaps of fun to drive... Think you either get it or you don't.... Life's too short to earnestly debate from either side of that particular fence as it's not amenable to logic... Drive what makes you grin!

I love the Mustang for all the reasons above. Simple & does what it says on the tin.
