I’m sticking with my XXVII chassis Mog for this Summer but I’m seriously considering the Plus Four as a future Mog
I’ll wait for a test drive when Oakmere have their demo car and give it some thought During your visit was there any mention of a future 4 seater at all as I know that suits your family well ? The chap I spoke to said it would be unlikely although it’s not been ruled out for definite MMC have their eyes close to the situation in the USA and this low volume vehicle act which has been stalled by The Federal National Safety Vehicle agency (or whatever it’s called) and the bills sponsors are using the courts to push it through as its stalling jobs in the US They are hoping the Plus Six could then be a goer in the US Thanks for that so there is a little hope. That's really good news on the Plus Six and the Stateside that will make a big difference to MMC. Thank you for your brilliant reporting and photographs, you are a star of incalculable luminosity it's the best new model launch ever on TM How nice of you to say Rich, thank you you asked about the 4 seater Both my 4 seaters have been brilliant, loved every minute of having the boys in the back and firends and adults (as there is plenty of room) and my youngest who has a rare genetic syndrome loves the wind in the hair and the thrill of the ride, however last year most of our Mog trips were just with Rachel as we take holidays in the UK without the boys and Ralph is looked after at home by his brother and carers. With Ralph getting a bit bigger its quite an operation for us to get him in and out the Mog and then we have the issue of his wheel chair not fitting on the rack too well. Aslo Rachel is a little worried about his safety if we break down (as Mogs do from time to time) I think if Rachel and I escape more in future years, a two seater with a luggage rack will work fine for our adventures Then if Ralph comes out he can has a blast with me in the passenger seat from time to time

I've just had to sit down and have a long chat with myself. When I bought the Morgan one of the reasons was that I'd been forever chasing the latest thing looking for the perfect car. Hours pouring over reports and specifications etc. That all ended when I bought the Plus 4. I didn't need to chase anything - it was just a pure driving experience. Timeless. Then this new Plus Four and I'm back in the old cycle again - faster, more toys, better. Hm. Exactly! The 'grass is not always greener'... and 'chasing rainbows' ends with wet shoes!

I do agree that the CX is appealing in many cases to a different sort of buyer. When I bought my 4/4, it was because I wanted the driving experience of a vintage car without any of the associated hassles. It absolutely filled that brief.
For a car that drives like a modern car, like Hannes I'd buy.....a modern car.
These are my thoughts, but I will try the new Plus 4. However, I love my 4/4, it still provides me with the experience I sought when I bought it 15 years ago.

I have already posted my positive thoughts about the new car elsewhere on TM. I am tempted. I will take a test drive in due course and then will have a long hard think about whether or not to change. At the moment I am tempted but also open minded. My expectation is that the car will blow me away in terms of comparative handling compared to my Roadster. I have tweeked the suspension on my Roadster to enhance it’s handling substantially, to the point where I am getting considerable enjoyment from driving the car and that fact (also expressed by others here) that it is a throwback to another age in terms of chassis and handling. Part of the thrill is not necessarily knowing if you are going to exit the bend or not!!! That’s where a certain amount of skill and knowing just what the limits on your car are. The new Plus Four might take that excitement away. I used to own a Porsche Boxster which would just about go around any bend far faster than any other car due to it’s superb setup and balance aided, of course, by modern technology. So, if anything, at this stage, I am 55/45 leaning towards a trade up to the new car, subject to a test drive and, of course, crunching the numbers depending on what my current car might be worth.

Did anything come of generating a poll for this? .....if so, it would be interesting if, when people put yes/no, they could add the year of the car they currently have.
I'd suspect those with, say, pre '80 cars would lead the No's ....being either wedded to the enjoyment of adversity or not having bottomless pockets ......Yes's would likely rise with youth of car.
Just my entirely unsupported opinion.
Think the new car is lovely and an admirable achievement by the way!

Yes, a poll would be interesting,
considering yes, no, test drive yes, no current Morgan, type, MY PlusFour - buying in addition vs. trade in current Morgan being an early adapter vs. waiting after teething is done

I think that once it is accepted that the CX platform is a true Morgan (the opinion has already softened over the past year) there will be a good number of trad owners switching over, similar to the Aero being generally more accepted as time went on, superformed wings, and so on..
Of course some will want to keep their traditional cars, either for experience, fondness, cost or a raft of other reasons. This is what makes Morgan great at the moment, there is something for every Morgan enthusiast and I think the Plus Four will be a great success.
All I hope is that they release a 4/4 entry model with less power and a lower price, which will help attract those that might not otherwise have bought into the brand. I have read countless tales of 4/4 owners purchasing based on the competitive price (a few years ago now) and then seemingly upgrading to more expensive cars later on.
Certainly with the immense performance of the Plus 4, I think a slower 4/4 is needed!

No, I’ve never had nor will I ever have £70K to spend on a car and if I did I think there are more important things to spend it on anyway. I like the style and understated looks of my 4/4. I don’t want air-con, footwell lighting, power steering, remote central locking and the like in a Morgan and there are too many styling details that don’t appeal to me - the door handles and high-level brake light strips set in the hood are two. That said I’m interested in experiencing the drive so I’ll certainly book one when BHM have their demonstrator!

It's a two-way necessity, I think. Not only a broad class of enthusiasts needs a 4/4 as a comparatively reasonable offer. I hope MMC realizes in time that it needs this wide range of enthusiasts as well. It is the basic security of the business that is very important. What good are the most beautiful models if the air is too thin for many people. People who have a certain amount of play money left over, but no crazy sums (from an [upper] middle class perspective). But these people make up a very large number of potential buyers that would otherwise disappear.
Far too long is the list of companies that were doing well in the past and who at some point ignored the existential importance of their basic business or got stuck-up. Such as Wiesmann, for example.
If there was no 4/4 on CX basis, I would have continued to build the old 4/4, if possible without disturbing the logistic processes of CX production. I would even have invested in another engine that is still allowed.

to be fair, I didn't want footwell lighting but the kind people at the dealers I bought the Plus 4 from put it on as a free extra. I'm glad they did - it's very convenient. The radio on the other hand was a complete waste of money (for me).
