Thank you OZ 4/4. I'm sorry, I have no idea what the chassis number was but the English Registration was VUY 5G and it was flame red. I did not deal with the buyer as it was sold on commission by, iirc Mike Duncan when he was in Lye. I worked a few doors away in Lye and spent my lunchtimes looking in the window or in the workshop in the back. I nearly bought a car from him but my insurance company said, "No way". It had a rather hot engine.

I have some photos somewhere of the car. I'll dig them out and send them to you to check.

I have found a few old photographs.These were taken in the early 80's, in the days of print film One day I might do something about the colour cast.
Note there are no louvres on the top of the bonnet.

The address looks weird as Bowling Green's nowhere near Hanley Castle but it is near where Heart of England Morgans used to be. The phone number might be OK.

It looks familiar. It doesn't seem to have bonnet louvres on the top of the bonnet. Were many cars built like that? It is certainly in better nick than when I owned it. For me it was my everyday car used for commuting into Birmingham. I'm afraid I ran it on a shoestring. I had a leak in the petrol tank (from a seam) This was silver soldered up and as I had a few scratches on it I removed the wings and cowl and repainted it. My then father in law was a foreman paint sprayer at Jaguar's Castle Bromwich plant. I see it has separate seats. Mine had a bench seat.It also had a homemade tow bar. I hope the photos and this additional info helps to show it was mine at one time.

Richard, I suspect the seats and the tow bar would have been first to go under new ownership. As to the bonnet louvers, I'm not sure how many were built like that but there are many TM'ers who will know.

For what it's worth the dates look right: VUY5G (which is a Worcestershire registration) was first registered in September 1968 and according to Ken Hill's book chassis B1726 was produced in August or September that year. The .gov.uk web site gives the tax for YUY5G being due in September 1984 which coincides with the date B1726 was exported to Australia.
