I normally keep these on the shelf, along with the adaptors to make them fit

I replaced my 2002 gaiters with Heart of England one about 3 years ago. Straight forward job as in Gomog.
I also checked the dimensions to the centre as the bellows on one side seemed tighter together. All measured ok. Nice to see that a Saab one might fit though. Probably cheaper than a Morgan named one! I think DaveW also sorted out neoprene guards to protect the bellows from abrasion against metal parts.

Worth mentioning that Cain recommends thinner than normal tie wraps to secure the two bellow type gaiters on the Quaife rack. His argument is that thinner ones better suit the modest width of locating groove in the rack body that provides their location, so you get a better seal against lubricant seepage.

Yes I too had this problem with one of the gaiters weeping oil and I chose to do it myself. Its just a nut and bolts job after all, and not that difficult if you have the time and observe the common sense rules of working underneath whilst the car is up on stands. At the same time I chose to take the Quaife Rack apart to see just how it functions and also to take up the very small ammount of play by screwing down the adjuster a couple of flats. A good clean up and fresh greasing will prolong its life for certain.
Plenty of guidance to be found on the GoMog site as to whats involved.

A little while ago I phoned the Service Dept at the Factory and asked them what they put in the steering gaiters when they replaced them. I was told they used "Semi Fluid Grease" on all the trads.

I got a can made by Morris Lubricants which carries the numbers 0951/076 together with K400EP and 'Part Number KSF003' on it. Down side was that they only seem to sell 3Kg cans though the gaiters seem to need replacing quite often! The grease is quite runny which may add to the problems of sealing the gaiter.

I used this, convenient pouches. Not in the gaiter itself, but in the end cones; I used 1 1/2 per cone. Doesn't spill out as you reattach them.
