I do not question any of those. I just make the assumption that it will be judged by the audience of Search for a Star and so all bets are on/off!

Turns out we're not all in this together after all (sense of déja vu here).

Astonishing arrogance from Dominic Cummings. The complete lack of contrition only throws more petrol on the fire. The Barnard Castle defense is just staggering. The Chief Constable of Manchester this morning on the Today programme said that going for a drive was not a conventional way of getting your eyes tested, indeed potentially an offense, of driving whilst knowingly medically impaired. I can see drunk drivers in future telling policemen that they weren't sure if they were too drunk to drive, so thought they'd better go for a spin to check.

Unlike Peter J, I agree with you. think there's a strong possibility that come the next election there will be plenty of voters who are fed up of the Trumpian lies and bullshit of Boris Johnson; the many voters who would have liked to vote Labour but were put off by the prospect of Jeremy Corbyn can happily vote for a man who is no demagogue, but a safe pair of hands.

I didn't see the press conference. I would love to have asked the question "Why did you decide to go out for a drive to 'check your eyesight' (a) with your family in the car and (b) on the occasion of your partner's birthday?

The arrogance with which they expect us to swallow a patently obvious pack of lies is just breathtaking. It just shows the depth of contempt in which they hold us.

Agreed - and to be honest, if it gets the country back on its feet quicker and stops a few restuarants/pubs from going under, then I've got no problem.

I currently have a weekly standing order to my local pub (small/independant) to help them through these times, and place a few online orders for cider. Had a chat with the boss when he delivered on Friday and he says he's coping, and doing about 40 deliveries a week, but unsure what will happen when they are allowed to re-open. As the pub is quite small, he says he'll only be allowed 15 punters in and it may not be cost effective.
