Only ever had one cancelled, storms/wind in channel meant Oriana (P&O) could not dock from the previous cruise and spent 48 hours going round the Isle of White. P&O were magnificent, rang us and advised us to not depart from home until they said. Then after about 36 hours they said our 4 day to the Channel Isles was not going ahead and would be replaced with a 2 day trip to Brugge (in effect Zebrugge) did we want that with a 50% fare reduction or would we want to move to another later cruise? They offered an 11 day to the Canaries with the same cabin for no extra money. It was a no brainer especially as it was just a winter break so we took it and were amazed when the tickets came through that as it was over 10 days we qualified for £100 on board credit as well. 11 days for 2 persons with £100 in the beer fund for all of £850. Well chuffed!

We have sailed on Star Clipper once and Royal Clipper twice. By the second Royal Clipper trip, the Fred Olsen mentality and values was starting to take hold which took some of the shine off. This was a great shame as the sailing experience and the ship's deck crew were always magnificent.

+1

Although we have been on all inclusive with Regent, Azamara and SilverSea and not seen a problem. My view is that P&O and Princess both sell off the last few cabins at a knock down price which attracts a group of people who we do not want to share our holiday with. We are sticking to smaller ships now.

One thing to note - its a good job we don't all like the same holidays.

But then, we cannot even agree on the choice between alloys and wires on a trad Morgan!

Wow that was a fantastic deal they offered you. I was offered a 125% credit but is would not even cover the equivalent cruise next year. Given all of the uncertainty in the cruise industry I opted for the cash and look at another one when the time was right.

On the subject of Silverseas doing the right thing, we should be in Kobe at the moment at the end of a nice little trip with them. No quibbles they rang me to say they were refunding everything back in March as the cruise would not be happening. They would also refund the extra days we had booked direct with Hilton in Tokyo as and when we cancelled the non -refundable bookings. However, Hilton have also been good, refunding all non-refundable bookings even though some of their hotels are actually open.

British Airways still waiting to see on flights I’ve got booked for Nashville beginning of August. Given that it looks unlikely the US will be open to UK visitors for a while I’m expecting not to go. It’s a long flight with no refreshments allowed and the lounges closed so not liking the idea right now even if we are allowed in!
