There have been some bonkers AMG exhaust systems for the turbo engines if you do a quick search. https://www.weistec.com/m157-downpipes-and-exhaust-g63.html M157 is the 5.5 V8 BiTurbo engine I had in the E63s estate and now the ML63PP. From the factory it will show 490-585bhp. With chip only tuning it will give you up to 720bhp. With exhaust and intake tweaks you can see 800 bhp but assume you will kill the gearbox and possibly snap a half shaft. An M157 with a sorted exhaust and engine map is a beast. Looking forward to hearing your new system Peter. Tarka is going to be the most upgraded Aero about!
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

It is probably the least standard Aero chassis Plus 8 about, for sure. Some of that is down to the factory as it was a development car, the rest is down to me. I believe that it is the best Plus 8 out on UK roads... I discovered looking closely at Aeroman's Plus 8 that the silencers on Tarka are different, longer, thinner and polished stainless steel wrapped. The big unknown is what are the internal differences!

Peter, thank you very much as this is very timely for me as I have been wanting to change the suspension set up on my Plus 8 (being one of the last 50 run out models) as I too have found it too firm. Bell & Colvill did contact the factory for me to find out if it was possible and were told it would be possible to fit the adjustable dampers front and rear from the Aero GT. I was quoted GBP1,177.63 in total for the parts, labour of GBP542.64 to fit the dampers and labour of GBP271.32 to set the ride height and damper adjustment, including rebound settings, making a grand total of GBP1,991.59. All figures quoted include VAT. Now I just have to decide whether to go with the factory dampers or the SSL/Librands set up. As long as the latter doesn’t invalidate the warranty on the car, I may go for that given your glowing review.

I sent an email enquiring with Librands if The SSL set up Peter has, is suitable for the Series 5 Aero due to the addition of the a.r.b which the previous Aero chassis does not have. Certainly Peter’s experience regarding handling and ride improvements has sparked my interest in making the change. Will watch this thread with interest and include any feedback I receive from my enquiry.

As well as new coil over units it requires a new rear ARB and some of SSL's 'Magic Drop-links" at the front between the stock RM and the lower wishbones. Fitting adjustable dampers isn't enough. It needs new springs and altering the ARB stiffness is key. The magic link does that, contact peter Ballard at SSL for more information. design@suspensionsupplies.co.uk The price will be a bit more, but not massively do from the B&C offer.

Hi Peter, Many thanks for the info. re.the S5 upgrade. I will contact Peter Ballard as you advise. Assume Will already has a set-up underway so it will be good to get his opinion also. I figured the a.r.b would complicate things slightly. I recall the Richard Thorne S5 upgrade changed both front and rear a.r.b’s. Thanks once again for the information and advice.

I'm early in the process, but I like SSL's approach.
I watched Shooter's changed setup with interest, and have a copy of the setup report that was produced by RaceDyn. It's clear that there's no point in changing the springs & dampers if you don't also change the ARBs. But they're difficult to change, and I require cutting the chassis. So that's a non-starter - and may partly explain why the Aero GT had the standard ARBs.
Enter SSL's droplink solution, which can change the ARB setup without altering the chassis. Peter J has driven a number of SSL-fettled cars, and I trust his judgement that they're transformed for the better.
SSL have obtained the original recommended settings for the Aero 8, and the values that Morgan put on production cars. (Yes, they spent money on setup work, and then changed/stiffened the setup to make it feel more like a Morgan. Huh?)
SSL can then set up my Aero to my preference, cross-referencing the datasets. I'm confident it'll be a lot more to my taste.
Will

Hi Will, Thanks for the update on your suspension upgrade plans. I'm certainly interested in making improvements in handling along the lines that Peter J describes he has achieved with Tarka. Are you Ok with me following your progress with the intent of me making the same changes so long as the costs are not prohibitive. Do you have any thoughts on timescales?
Regards Ron
