Morgans had keyless entry for decades. Its not that long ago that door handles were an extra.
Prior to having door handles, Morgan had completely eliminated the problem of loosing the door key.
My boat has keyless ignition too. At the weekend it was a screwdriver across the terminals of the starter motor relay.

Why on earth change a proven product like a key? These keyless systems are just something more to go wrong in an already over complicated product. In the same way we moved on from proven products like horses for transport. Progress.  Unless you do it the 'Morgan' way, which is definitely not progress. For cars with a start button, you still have to put an ignition key in the ignition lock and turn it one position to the right - before pressing a separate start button. What's the point? - either is fine, but requiring both actions is pointless. Maybe they figure that because so many of their customers are retired, we are all looking for ways to kill a little extra time...

Mkiss, I suspect engineers are unlikely to be those making THE decisions..? It seems perhaps more likely to be the bean counters who control/limit development and testing in a bid to get product out the door..? Seems I was up to my neck in the transition years relative to all sorts of equipment from old style engineering to the then latest high tec. Old style being electro mechanical where it` operation/failure was traceable with a man sized degree of logic, as soon as control became miniscule and digital, manufacturers favourite expression to extend and retain control was on the basis of intellectual copyright.... Which required THEIR tecs to visit site to plug in a memory stick with ver.umpteen, in the HOPE of resolving the issue... All very frustrating for folk who were formerly entirely self reliant....Glad to be well out of it now, and in owning a non-digital Trad.. Luddite - you are awfully right;-) They cannot do THE big decisions. At the end they do the Power Point that is the basis for THE big decisions. Now we have to identify the middle management tweeking the peak of the presentations😉

I see that the next version of the iPhone software, due in the autumn, offers the ability to take over control of your car from the keyfob, assuming the car has keyless entry and keyless start.
I'm not sure I think this is a good idea. Well it (and the Apple Watch) have had access capabililty to your card for payment for a long time now and I have yet to hear about a breach which is a good sign. Given the ease with which the current keyless go/lock/theft tools work for the theives I think it can only be an improvement (provided you have an iPhone of course) As a matter of interest I wonder how many people on here 1. Have an iPhone 2. Have enrolled it in Apple Pay and loaded any form of credit/debit card 3. Use it regularly I will admit to having to survive on it one day as I left my wallet at home. Train, Underground, Food, Food, Shopping, Underground, Train all worked. Using Apple Pay on my Apple Watch is now my default way to pay, even if I have the cards with me! The same for me, Peter! Me too but with Samsung. I don't really care if they know where I spend my money and it avoids me handling potentially contaminated cash or touching even the buttons on the POS. My bank app also allows me to make contactless payments with the phone as does a Google app but the Samsung app is better integrated.

Moral of the story is don't go into the wilds in an electric car.
Yes, especially when there has never been a documented case of an ICE car breaking down and leaving the owner stranded for days whilst waiting for repair. Oh wait...

Yep, I have Apple Pay enabled and use it. I tend to use my contactless bank card more, mainly out of habit and not much stuff I buy is more than £45, but paying by phone is great when the item is more expensive or you've forgotten your wallet, and it's more secure too.
