How ESSENTIAL is a holiday abroad at the moment? Why not take a break here in the UK if you are that desperate or selfish. Yes. Selfish. No apologies for that term either. I could add irresponsible too.
I just don’t get the way that so many now seem to think the pandemic is gone and things can return to normal. The clues are there with flare ups and local lockdowns. The Leeds and Liverpool football “celebrations” are clear examples of this attitude.
We have moved trips for this year back to 2021 and will have day trips to selected areas and look at how things unfold.
I was playing golf with a mate last week his daughter works in ICU and he was telling us about her experience. Horrific. The suffering of those needing the high end care and the deaths without relatives there. The effect on her.
The last thing we need is a resurgence.
Yes some sections of the economy are suffering but extending the need for keeping places closed by a second wave will be devastating.

There is no doubt about herd stupidity. We've seen it on the beaches here. We've seen it with football celebrations. It's obvious at the pubs which are open.

I really is hard to fathom why these groups just don't seem to understand that death is the outcome for some. I won't even try to understand the thinking. A friend of MrsW's told her "if I get it I get it"................... mind boggling stupidity with elderly parents and a husband with MS.

We have the possibility of staying in a cottage in Cornwall in November. If we go, we will take our food with us. We won't mix with anybody, and thankfully the coast path allows that luxury. I think caravans will be safe enough, if the same rules are followed.

But this obsession to fly to a hot place can only prolong the misery.

Caravan sites are of dubious safety, there is an outbreak at a caravan site in Shropshire...

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/07/26/fresh-coronavirus-outbreak-shropshire-caravan-park/

I wouldn't stay anywhere where people are gathered together on holiday.

An isolated self catering cottage, perhaps...

That is the limit of our travel plans for the rest of this year. Planning on driving to a cottage and then walking from there so as to avoid parking hot spots for a forthcoming weekend away.

There are a lot of stupid people out there which does not bode well for getting on top of covid.

My local Morrisons is very well organised, two entry queues basket & trolley with someone letting one in for one out, only 50 customers inside. Sanitising station just inside. Two queues for the tills basket & trolley & you are directed to a particular till. Well done Morrisons.

Mine is the same. Employee outside this morning offering a squirt of hand sanitiser.
I noticed in the local Asda this morning that they have removed the one-way system and shortened the entry queuing area. Not a good move I feel.

Our local Morrisons have impressed me - every so often they make minor changes to the system - always an improvement. It feels like someone is thinking hard there.

Ditto our Tesco.
We won't be flying for a good while.
