Thanks Mitchell. I've driven a couple of Morgans and it was love at first blip of the throttle. Next test drive is booked for 16/8/12, the day before I order my own +4. Thanks also to N22MOG - the BHM workshop day sounds like a plan to me cheers

Mitchell,

Good for you! You guys are so lucky to be able to buy new, but I do love my old 1966 4/4.

Please, Please, dont be afraid to more to you car than just tighten the mirror. One of the most beautiful things about these cars is the simplicity...mechanical honesty of the machine...Have no fear to fix it yourself.

When I was 17 I bought my first MGB. After a near metal bending brake failure, I rebuilt my brakes. I had no clue as to what I was doing. I just read and asked questions.

Last winter I rebuild my Cosworth BDR thats in my 4/4 and the transmission thats in my TR4.

Remember the SAS: Those who dare, win!

Hello t
I know what you are talking abou. Been a Morganowner for 28 years I am now tired of getting under the car every spring. Therefore I have sold my Triumph TR2 to Italy and trying to sell my +4 1959 to finance a newer +8 or Roadster. I am a technical idiot myself but have managed to rebuild my TR2 with a lot of help from more skilled friends.
Hope you enjoy your MOG as much ad I have done.
Cheers.
Ken

Mitchell 76, welcome, great post. smile

I am a also a newbie (in a modern aero and just 2 years in the family, I hope) and your comments ring so very true. Many people will read your post and join the club as a result.

Sharing is a good thing.

(p.s. never been to an AA meeting in my life)

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Mitchell

I enjoyed reading your post and have no fear, there are plenty of us who have only a rudimentry knowledge of things mechanical.

Enjoy your Morgan and the whole fun and experience of being part of a great bunch of owners

Hi Mitchell76, it's good to read of your experience as a first time Morganist. I totally understand your apprehension, after all a Mog is not your average mass produced tin box, and yes they are idiosyncratic. But having owned and loved 2 of them 40 years ago, and being now in a position to have another, I just can't wait to get my hands on it. A recent visit to the factory taught me 2 things: 1. Not much has changed since I was last there as a guest of Peter Morgan; and 2. the one thing that has conspicuously changed is the quality of what is being produced there now. It is improved beyond all recognition. So many of the old cars' weaknesses have been addressed that I know for sure and certain that my new Plus Four Super Sports 60th Anniversary will be not only a whole lot quicker and better to drive than my 1969 Plus 8 ever was, but it will be a whole lot more reliable and more durable too. Honestly, a modern 'classic' Morgan is a very, very much higher quality offering than its forebears.

Well, Sir H - welocme back to the Morgan fold (and TalkMorgan smile ).

I trust you'll be bringing that +4SS over to Prescott at least once next year?

Enjoy!

cheers
