Afternoon all,
I won't post what this is (for obvious reasons) but I noticed a rather bad security flaw on my car that allows me to start it without the keys.. Is this a known issue?
If not I wonder if it may be something on earlier cars, I will do some digging and see what I find..

So you are saying no key in the ignition and it starts? You must be providing power to the fuel pump somehow, then.

I think it may be a problem with your car NickCW. I am not aware of any "normal" ways of starting the engine without the keys, plenty of ways it won't start even with the keys! The Turn Signal Module, as Rog G suggests, does a lot of strange things when it goes wrong.

My old wrangler started with a flat head screwdriver, but I couldn't take my steering wheel off for security.

Bizarrely last year I noticed if I turned my hazard warning lights on the fuel pump would energise and I could start the car without the keys in the ignition.
This has now rectified itself and no longer works.
Weird.

Thanks for the link - my indicator stalk is knackered and is being replaced soon - does that count? Be interesting if it is related..! Bizarrely last year I noticed if I turned my hazard warning lights on the fuel pump would energise and I could start the car without the keys in the ignition.

Weird. Well I wasn't going to say.. but yes this is the issue. It basically turns on the ignition and starts the car without the keys.. What year car is yours and does it have the immoboliser btw?
