I had a similar issue, could start car without ignition key being turned.
Associated with this were frequent fuse failures.
Auto electrician found too many circuits feeding through Multiple fuses so did a bit of rewiring to a separate Set of upgraded fuses.
Stopped all mystery failures and no longer can start without key.
May pay to see if you have any blown fuses, I could lose one with no issues. Can’t remember which ones they were. Age thing

No immobiliser, Feb. 2013 Thanks, early car then and similar to mine! I had a similar issue, could start car without ignition key being turned.

My car is April 2020 and yes it does have the immobiliser. Although I have since then immobilised the immobiliser

Thanks - was yours related to the hazard switch or was it just a live start button?

My car is April 2020 and yes it does have the immobiliser. Although I have since then immobilised the immobiliser You have just knocked 8 years of the age of your car Nigel  . I remember looking at your cars colour when I was ordering mine and wanted to see it but it was rather a long way to go for a look.

Speaking to the factory it sounds like this is a known fault, something to do with a resistor/diode problem in the ignition/hazard system..
