It's been quite a grand tour. Does your most recent stop mean you will have to quarantine on your return?

K, yes it is, I was telling Mrs D about it but couldn't quite remember the full story. I think the laird gifted the island to one of his long serving members of staff and he built the house on it.

A little more like Scotland today, rain forecast and horrendous midgies in kinlochbervie when we left this morning (photo 3) they seem to be particularly attracted to dark mohair, be warned. I had the Avon sss on but they were in your eyes, ears and nose swear

Picture 2 was a quick stop to check the map and pray for less midgies and more sun, seemed to work, only had a few spots the whole day and thankfully less midgies.

Last picture taken on the A838 Durness to Melvich road, we then took the Melvich to Helmsdale, not the most scenic but not busy either, we didn't have time to go all the way round so took this shortcut. Met another Mog in Golspie, first of the trip. I think it was Ian (Morgan 110) on his way home from Revolutions. Unfortunately there was nowhere convenient to stop for a chinwag.

Further to my previous post in answer to K. It seems the story of the wee house on loch Shin, Lairg is a yarn created by the villagers. Apparently it was a leftover prop from the gala and placed on the island by boat only around 20 years ago

Yesterday, went from Rushden to Avebury, then down to Cheddar for a nice bumble through the gorge. Night in Wells, then over to Tavistock via the Moor. After a couple of hours went to Tintagel before setting up our home for the week in Blisland. Beautiful sunny day yesterday, unfortunately very wet today so roof up. Very few classics spotted but not a single Morgan....

Two interesting facts - can average 38mpg by bimbling along. Also, by fitting Led side lights and tail lights you can leave them switched on for 16hrs and still have enough juice to start your car smile

I am happy to see a foto with a car that looks "used" and straight from the road and does not look like other cars here that look like the have been just been polished in a workshop.
oops

I am often ashamed to post fotos of my car here - our 4/4 often has signs of flys and road dust ...
or should I try to learn how to use Photoshop ? innocent

Hi Gordon

I think my husband and I passed you on the road just at the corner in Brora. We were on our way back from Perth having just had the Morgan put through its 1,000 mile service.

Cheers

Well guys I have to say our trip to Perth for our first service could not have been in any worse weather. We left Scrabster at 6:30am on Thursday 20th.

Firstly leaving in torrential rains which continued until we reached Inverness. In addition, around, Berriedale, we had thick sea haar with zero visibility. The high winds also added to our problems.

I said to Ian we forgot to take a towel with us. Actually we could have done with a couple of bath towels and an item to bail out the water. Yes guys, you have guessed, since we got our baby it has never been allowed out in the rain so we were discovering a lot about our wee Mog.

However, having said all that it meant that Revolutions were advised about all our leaks and fixed them pronto.

We spent a peaceful night in Perth. Collected our Mog around 12 noon for our drive back and yes you have guessed it was torrential rain again. This time though you will be amazed to hear that no bath towels were required.

The weather did not clear till we reached Inverness. Then it was blue skies all the way home. We had a couple of scares during our run where cars travelling at speed do an emergency halt then one click of their indicator and then turn right. Obviously they do not know about Mog brakes so I must admit I had a few swear words coming from my mouth and, as a rule, I don’t swear !

Ian got home shattered. I was buzzing. It was once again the most exhilarating experience of my life. I just love being a passenger in our wee Mog.

Roll on our next trip.

Elaine, The cars are very special, but do require a lot of TLC eg stopping water ingress. But once sorted just the occasional adjustment/addition. Much more involvement than a modern car, hence they become much loved. Enjoyment in spades.
