Overall is one way to look at it but as the OP was talking about ordering SSL suspension parts then I'm guessing that the salient wide body / narrow body question relates to the chassis width more than the body width.

Having said that I assume it's for the rear suspension setup as I can't see what difference the width would make to the front suspension setup.

I think his car would still be classed as wide though.

Yes that was true Dave had us all measuring prior to his book I think and ours proved to be the widest rear wings of all, the tubs of the era being identical, there was a 5mm discrepancy left to right on mine so I know it's a Morgan.


Not wishing to start the whole “get the tape measure” again; but!
When Jays and I compared the interior tub width of his 2009 3 ltr Roadster with my 2003 4/4, there was around 35 mm difference.
We measured just behind where the doors close.
My 4/4 being narrower.

correct the +8s (then later the Roadsters) and the Plus Fours moved to the wide chassis in I think 1997. I say that as my Plus Four from 97 was a wide chassis. The car width then driven by the tyre size and associated wings.
At some stage I then think the 4/4s also moved over.

I can confirm that my chassis got wider in the late 90s than it was in the 60s as for the +8, well I couldn't possibly comment!!!
