I checked my oil for the first time today. I saw one bar right when I opened the tank. The oil was level with the top of it. I figure that will do and screwed the top back on.

Don't forget to run the engine for a few seconds before checking the oil level. This ensures that any oil that may have drained into the sump is pumped back into the oil tank where it belongs.
Do not drive the car with excess oil in the system as this will cause over-pressurisation that can cause problems such as oil tank structural failure. I speak from personal experience! doh

Hi ,

due to the fact that I noticed the oil expands la lot to higher temperature, I always measure the level after the oil is really hot and not only after some seconds the engine runs.

It all depends on HOW the manufacture wants you to measure it. Harley expects the oil to be hot when you measure the level. But I believe Morgan expects it to be cool

Agreed! MorganCustom has a venting kit for this that I just installed. About 30 minutes work and the cam chest and oil tank now vent out the pressure. Ran the car until warm, removed the oil cap and put my hand over the opening...quite a bit of pressure in there before.

Morgan Custom is not resting on his laurels and is developing a new oil tank that solves the problems that I have been having.

This new system is an upgrade replacement for his more modest breather system, which I currently have installed. Currently it relieves the crank case pressure on the pinion seals, causing the front one to leak, which I have had since day one of ownership of the new M3W.

I also have had the issue of oil oozing from the fill cap. I have to crank it down so tight that it takes a strap wrench to get it off to look into the tank to check the oil and replenish. I have tried new gaskets and tried different methods of gasketing to no avail, it still drips oil down the side of the tank onto the parts under the tank. Possibly a miss manufactured threaded fill neck and not being square to the cap? In any case I was getting tired of the nonsense on this $55,000 motorcycle/cycle car. Thanks MMC... I have wondered about having an oil pump that is pumping more than normal, if that is even possible.

So when discussing this with Emil of Morgan Custom he came up with this over a period of time and soon I will be number 1 as a test bed for this concept.

Vented, internally baffled, site gauge for checking oil level, in tank oil heater for cold weather startups, better oil lines to and from the engine. Also provision for in tank oil temp sensor.

I should be receiving this late next week for install and testing.

Very nice. Will you plug the preheater circuit into the mains in your garage?
