Every morning the Teign Bean Coffe man passes our house on his way to set up his office at the local Haldon beauty spot .... So popular there is now a parking problem.. with approach lanes over-run. His coffee is delicious, Muffins and home baked cakes available too

Visited Silverstone Classic with my mate Derek who is a thrifty ex miner and after declaring “HOW MUCH?” at one of the official coffee vendors made it his mission to snaffle as many free coffees as possible from the various owners club.

He settled on BMW as his favourite but eventually one of the officials (rather unkindly referred to by Derek as a Nazi) asked to see his membership credentials. Unfortunately, his Vauxhall Zafira was insufficient coffee currency and he was frog marched out of the marquee coffee

The best coffee I ever had was at a hotel just off the road to Shaldon at Maidencombe. It was Columbian and stunning.

The next time we called it was ordinary.

You get good coffee most places on Madiera rich and mellow ..... rarely drink coffee in the UK ... we've totally bought into the harsh continental roasts ..... for me, I'd much rather have a bottomless cup at any Mom n Pop crossroads diner in the States than any 'designer' coffee .... that probably makes me a Coffee Philistine (but that doesn't bother me a whole lot smile )

The mobile coffee man above is using a converted Rice horse trailer .... popular choice for mobile vendors.

Some very custom hardware anbd way above my level but this is much more interesting - what coffee do you use and why do you like it? Acidity, bright, chocolate flavours, smooth, dark rich?

I use either a straight French Press or an Aeropress depending on time and volume needed so nothing nuts in the hardware collection.
I generally like a good KenyanAA or Kenyan Peabury if I am feeling flush. I tend to get CafeDirect through Amazon and grind it myself.

On rare occasions I get something from H.R.Higgins which is way too expensive but they have some wonderful types. I love the Galapagos Islands as it is bright, clean, lightly acidic and sweet. Medium roast it is wonderful in the morning. https://www.hrhiggins.co.uk/product/coffees/single-origin-coffees/galapagos/galapagos-coffee/

The Aeropress.
What a coffee maker. I threw away all my expensive machines after using one of these.
It's almost depressing , £25 buys something that makes the smoothest, richest flavour out of even fairly ordinary coffee.
Portable too, so can be taken on hols. Just a genius machine.
I found it hard psychologically to accept but to try one is to be converted.
I just warm the cup first so the coffee doesn't hit cold china.

My only mod to the office aeropress is to have a metal filter instead of paper - I think you get better pressure, and flavour. Just have to remember not to throw it out with the grind!

I'm using a Swedish roasted bean at the moment from Loftbergs - smooth, dark and rich.

I did use an Aeropress for a while, but found whilst it made a decent 'filter' style coffee, I wanted a proper espresso with a decent crema. My machine produces a perfect espresso every time with very little effort.
