Hi Iam a new member and have just bought a 2006 4-4 but I have a concern about the front suspention ,Its HARD...When driving the front seems solid and you feel every bump,Ive Jacked the front of car up and the wheels only dropped about 1ins from when it was on the ground,checked the kingpins they seem well greased but when its on the ground and you press down on front of car it hardly moves...Is this normal or do I have to do more investigation...
The car has just done 9000 Miles and has been serviced by Morgan dealer 5 times

Welcome Barry. Two things will affect stiffness over and above the spring rate.
The first is the kingpin to bush friction. As you’ve realised, suspension travel is limited, but to make sure that your pins are free, grease the nipples half way up the stub axles with the steering on full lock each way. Make sure it doesn’t get on the brake discs. You may not have nipples at the top of the kingpins, but if you do, a small amount of grease or oil will help.
The second item is the shock absorbers. If they are originals, and therefore not adjustable, you will find an improvement in changing to adjustables. My car has AVO’s which I am very happy with. Others prefer Koni. If your shock absorbers have a visible method of adjustment, slacken them off completely and start from there. This is usually achieved by turning the adjuster fully anticlockwise.

Hi Dave thanks for quick reply,the shocks are Sachs super touring no702 008 think they must be originals I cant see any adjustment from just looking underneath but will check later today when I will take wheels off..

Welcome to the madness Barry cheers

As an addition to Dave's comments regards shocks, you might also want to look at the Rutherford spring option, Earlier this year I needed new king pins on my '88 4/4 so I jumped in and swapped outthe original shocks for adjustable AVOs and swapped the old springs for the rutherford version(all available from New Elms morgan) and the stiffness of the front end is much reduced. At the same time I fitted negative camber plates, which have improved the steering no end also (once I got used to it!)

Hi Barry and welcome.
Morgan suspention is never going to be plush, but it should not shake your filling out. If your suspention hardly moves at all, shocks is not likely to be the problem. (they usually become too loose when they wear causing "bounciness") Grease the KP as Dave says and also check for KP wear. If that is not the problem, maybe someone has fitted higher rate springs? You could investigate the option of installing the new rising-rate spring package that the factory have recently developped.

Welcome Barry. I'm a relative Morgan newbie so can't really comment, except that I found my 4/4 Sport more comfortable suspension wise than I expected.

Welcome to the forum Barry cheers . It sounds to me that you need to get some miles under the belt before worrying too much about suspension issues. You will get used to the firm but stable ride drive .

Hi Barry

Without getting too technical, i have a 1994 4/4 which i have owned for 10 + years. I have suffered the opposite symptoms to you, bottoming out on both front and rear suspension on all UK roads. Over last winter i played about with the suspension settings. I opted for adjustable Koni's, however as the other posts note there are several options to achieve the desired ride. I fitted Koni's stiffened the rear by one turn and left the front as supplied.

Whilst i cured the rear bottoming out, even when fully loaded, i introduced substantial understeer. I have since addressed this by softening the front suspension.

So it's worth noting that if you change your suspension and play about with adjustable shocks, you may materially affect the handling.

Koni have a good website that explains how to adjust their shocks

After 10 years of poor ride quality, the Koni's have made it ying yangs better.
