Quite agree with that advice. My 12 years old set of SS wires are like new with no sign of any corrosion. I regularly clean them with a spray on wheel cleaner (Muck Off or similar), using a decoraters long haired, wide paint brush. Takes me less than five minutes per wheel.

I would try to keep the SS wheels clean as Moggo says. However if that is too much work these wheels look nice and would be easier to clean. As they are also knock off wheels they would fit on your hubs. you could use these for every day and clean your wire wheels to keep just for shows.

Says 4 and 5 stud fitment Chris, so I'm not sure about Knock Off,just that they are available with "spinners". Might be worth a query.

And I think the prices of Image wheels will make your eyes water.

They seem pretty cheap 200- 250 per corner. SS wires are more at £450

If I read them correctly 5.5J x 15 are £179 ea. Another reason I think they are 4 or 5 stud, not centrelocks.

Graham,
definitely 5 stud wheels, you can see the bolt holes in the pictures.

Image Wheels did also make the rims for the 4/4 80th Anniversary, using bolt-on-centre-lock-adaptors. Of course it adds weight and money, but it is possible. I do not know the prices.

On the Extras tab of the page I posted they have Spline Drive Adapter for £360 for a set of 4. From something I saw on the electric MGB made by RBW I assumed these wheels can be put on a centre lock hub, maybe that is what the Spline Drive Adapter is.

Assuming you need to buy 4 wheels at say £180 plus the spline Drive Adapter set that is £720 plus £360 = £1080.

That works out less that these https://realmengineering.com/d-style-wheels/ at £325 each for a splined wheel making it £1300 for a set of 4.

Both seem nice but pretty expensive when you add 20% VAT as well. (When did VAT reach 20%? I think it was 17% when I last visited the UK and that seemed high)

However http://shop.mwsint.com/product_details.asp?id=451 is still more expensive.
