Given that E10 petrol will now be commonplace in the UK, I take it you folks driving older stock are prepared?

No need for the Morgan with its 2007 engine but I've been using Valvemaster Plus in the fuel for all my old engines for a few years now.

Isn't there also a potential issue with plastic fuel lines that needs to be considered ?

This is an excerpt from the ACEA report linked below.

I was just checking my Zetec

Ford: E10 is cleared for use in all petrol driven Ford models sold in Europe since 1992 excluding: Ford Mondeo 1.8 SCI from 2003 to 2007. Personal imports not approved by Ford of Europe are not included in the above statement.

E10 Compatible engines

Don't know about earlier engines.

Hence the use of Valvemaster Plus, it's not just about protecting valve seats. I did replace the fuel lines on the Renault 4CV and the Bonneville as a precaution too. A trivially easy job so nothing to panic about.

I was at a petrol station a couple of years ago and there was some old bloke in a camper towing a beautiful old Riley, wetting his knickers about the E5 in the fuel and trying to find if there was anything ethanol free. He was blocking two pumps and causing a right stink.

He then tried to tell me that it would destroy my Morgan petrol tank and provided numerous other horror stories. I humoured him, filled up and drove off. 15,000miles later, tank is still OK....

I guess that means my 03 Plus 8 is ok then. thumbs
