I buy have just discovered that my handbrake has been binding on the offside so much so that I will need to replace the shoes. I have slackened off the adjuster in the rear as much as I can but there is still some resistance in the drum, however this will of course effect the other drum as the adjuster effects both sides. I didn't notice any binding the last time I removed the rear wheels but that would have been back in September.
Any advice most welcome

Are you sure it's a handbrake problem and not a sticky slave cylinder?

Are you sure it's a handbrake problem and not a sticky slave cylinder? +1 Most likely.

The above suggestions sound far more likely than adjustment, I had the same symptoms on my Plus 8 and changed both rear wheel cylinders and shoes at the same time, end of problem combined with regular fluid changes. Good explanation on gomog.The cylinder change is easy but take a photo of the brake shoes before you strip them and they are a bit of a wrestle to get back on but a DIY job. Good luck.

Slave cylinder seems to be a common fault. I’ve sorted mine several times on two different cars

Regular fluid changes help out a bit, every two years seems to work with a bit of rubber grease behind the rear cylinder boots doesn't go amiss either.

When changing slave cylinders, keep the old ones and send them off to have them bored out and a stainless internal sleeve fitted.

Great idea Graham - the sleeved cylinders are better than new as they shouldn't go rusty. Is it "pastparts" that offer this service? Can't remember - had a few old Allegro clutch slave cylinders done some years ago.

I've used Past Parts, great service, did a super job on a rare servo made from unobtainium, it came back with a test cert that it now held good at 46 Bar, that's over 600 psi, well pleased
