DeLorean for a car. Not huge sums involved but it has had and still has credibility. Sensible investment possibly in a trust fund depending on specialist advice. Bricks and mortar might be ok but inheritance tax needs to be considered and early proofing against it done.

I wouldn't dream of choosing for them, they can have the dosh and make their own decisions. They both want the Plus 8, so they can fight over it.

I have always worked on the basis that my collection of Morgans is for my enjoyment which they have delivered in bucket loads. As and when they become untenable they will have paid their way, my boys will inherit them and if they have to send them to the scrap heap in the sky so be it.

If I had the space I'd buy a Jaguar XJ6 Two door coupe. I feel they will become the one to own in 50 year's time. Just a hunch Nick They are already going up quite quickly now especially the Daimler V12 ( or double six as I should call it )

The early shape Audi TT .... Mrs Image had one until recently .... the 225 bhp model, quattro with the factory lowering/handling pack .... most definitely not a hairdresser's car! .... she fell in love with the Art Deco styling (very un-Audi to let a car out into the wild that wasn't identifiably 'corporate' .... something they rectified with the mk2 that was very 'Audi' in its styling cues)
For the sake of being different and more exclusive possibly one of the V6 versions .... not any faster but less common.
Will never be a car that makes millions .... but definitely a future classic at the E-type level
K Again, already being punted as a new classic and rightly so. We had a V6 roadster and it was a great car, the Bauhaus styling ( not art deco ) was the best that Audi have done to date and the interior fittings were wonderfully tactile. I doubt we will ever see anything like it again.

I believe any gas guzzling car will struggle both in terms of the cost and availability of petrol in the future, better to focus on the aesthetics, desirability and purity of a vehicles design and function and hope it can be converted to alternative fuels................possibly electrification and batteries. Also we can expect further restrictions on types of vehicles allowed to enter cities, etc heavier pollution and congestion charging all aimed at forcing people onto public transport etc.....
As we get closer to 2050 and the realisation we haven't done enough to reverse climate change even more draconian measures will be introduced..........I mean we need to get this all into context, my house is forecast to be under water by 2050 with the rising sea levels....might be time to get a life time mortgage LOL! Yet the Local Fylde Town plan has many thousands of new homes planned and currently being built on less stable former drained marshlands, something doesn't quite add up, someone may be telling porkies! So apologies for the tread drift.

Prince Philip hasn’t done the reputation of the old defender any harm, that hearse was the epitome of style, especially the green with green wheels. That said, it’s too old a design to qualify for Howard’s idea, the original TT is certainly one that does but it’s hard to think of anything else which has been in anyway exciting, perhaps the Skoda roomster for no other reason than it’s the modern equivalent of the Allegro in terms of being so ugly, it fascinates...a true anti-style.

Have both driven her, Peter? Yes, they have. Both are unreformed petrolheads, quick, accident free and no speeding tickets...
