Some detail photos as promised.
As I was fitting the Brooklands, I was wondering about the slot left by the plastic screens.
To leave it empty would be unacceptable- rain would drop straight through to the electrics beneath.
I was hoping to make a one piece rain strip like you see on vintage cars, but fitting rubber in the slots seemed a no brainer so I went with that.
The rubber is sealed in with black mastic to make sure the slot is waterproof.

I have only experienced any water escaping from the mudguards in a way it didnt from the standard ones once in a torrential downpour - absolute torrent of tropical proportions. No water came inwards to the car or me, I just had a vertical fountain in front of each front wheel. I have reduced the circumference the mudguard covers slightly at the front , as well as removing the plates between the support struts and I think it is this that was causing the fountains. As soon as the rain backed off and we were drving on wet as opposed to a flooded surface, the front fountains stopped.

Aside - this was during a MTWC race at Oulton Park, so I couldnt stop , just admire the fountains and press on!
I have not had that effect since, but have never driven in such wet conditions.

On my M3W the windows are fixed with screws on a rubber element.
The original slots were closed.
I bought it from the owner how made this change himself.

Chris, curious, how did he fill in the gap left by the old windscreen? Has that simply been caulked in well?

Nippymog and/or Chris, is there anything strengthening the underside of the brooklands mounts? I imagine the weight and extra pressure caused by the wind resistance would be a bit much for the original aluminum sheet.

At the point the brooklands are mounted, the aluminum is about 1/4" thick.

CraigL, I don't know (it has done by the pre-owner) and I cannot see directly to the downside.
To get to this place I think there are several items to unscrew.

I like it. It looks very clean. Did you simply fashion some aluminim strip over the existing windscreen slots and bolt down through them? It looks very well sorted and neatly trimmed.

Correct, formed aluminum strips to cover the slots. Sanded and polished them, adhered them to the cowl with 3M double sided tape to seal the slots then bolted the Brooklands screens through them. Photo from the back side.
