So my indicator switch coming out of the steering shroud cover is loose or sqidgy. Feels like there is all kinds of give and doesn't quite move up and down evenly. feels less like it's connected to something and more like it's sticking in a jar of peanut butter. so far it works, but is this something that eventually goes? easy to fix?

Sounds like it’s broken - mine did the same on the way down to Switzerland a few years ago LHD or RHD switches can be used it’s just the wires need changing over if the wrong one for your car is fitted.

Okay see now the turn signal stalk breaking and shorting is a big problem. I will look into buying the replacement part and hope it's a DIY

I do not know of a good alternative for the stock MMC item. It has to work with the Turn Signal Module which narrows the selection down a lot. If anyone has got some information on alternatives please let me know and I will add it to the list. The stock item is very delicate and often breaks, operate it gently.....

The lever fatigues and you buy the whole switch assy.

I don’t know of an alternative- caterham may well use similar but then they’d be more expensive
