Thanks for the tip, i had not noticed that yet.

I fuel on the level slowly. then I stop. and wait. then grab a roll hoop and shake the car side to side. Wait some more. Maybe top off slowly. or not. It still happens at times and I just roll through it.

The angle of dangle is critical to any vehicle when filling, people blame the pumps for shutting off too soon but it is the smoothness and speed of flow through the filling tube that causes the click. Quite often just filling at a slower pace will cure the problem, never really understood the need to squeeze in that last drop it can cause problems.

I always give my car a good shake side to side after the three click rule, it works for me.

Giving the car a shake from side to side after refuelling is just exercise and entertainment for those watching, it does nothing for the fuel system. There is a balance pipe between the tanks and air vent pipes for the top of the tanks, no float switches or valves that could be unstuck by rocking.

More than three shakes, you're just playing with yourself.

As for the shaking, with a bit more thought, I'd have to say that it is partially spectator sport but more importantly it adds time to the process. For fueling this car up it appears that taking ones time is the way to go. More than three shakes IS playing with oneself. Gotta watch that...

I tried the slow trickle method of adding fuel slowly so the fuel would have plenty of time to equilibrate and once i hit the first click on the pump handle i stopped. Started the engine to find it gave the same overfill stutters and light as multiple clicks on the pump handle. Frustrating…
