It's not the best idea they have had, and when this becomes unswitchable, some old schoolers will stick with what they have already.

In fact dual carriageways will become like they are with HGV's now, and drivers with a half a mile per hour speed advantage taking miles to pass another car.

Local Authorities will have to put a lot more effort into maintaining speed limit signs,cutting back vegetation and ensuring signs are not visible on roads they do not apply to.
The modern cars we own read speed limits by a combination of GPS and cameras. In south Wiltshire they are accurate on the main A roads, but on minor roads and B Roads about 70% accurate, on average.
Keeping the Morgan seems to be ever more attractive!

I wouldn't get to rebellious, plans afoot to lower speed limits already due to emissions, they will probably apply to none compliant cars in differing categories, is having banding sing read from your number plate, you could almost saute this to Orwell's 1984?

It could be another way to get more people into electric vehicles - have lower speed limits for ICE machines!

Coincidentally there's a thread running on Reddit about people's speed on motorways. The overwhelming majority of posters say they are happy to drive at or less than 70.

Personally, I like to get my kicks on twisty B roads where exceeding the speed limit isn't necessary to enjoy oneself.

You may as well take the train (a degrading experience) as drive on a motorway, it's just an uninvolving way of getting from A to B..

Since my retirement I avoid them as much is possible, which means always down here but forced into using them when visiting our two daughters, one in Cambridge and the other in Kent. Luckily our son lives in Cornwall so a lot nicer route.

The minor routes are the picturesque and involving one's for sure.

Back on thread the "boys" will soon find a fix for this speed limiting for sure so I wouldn't raise your blood pressure unnecessarily right now.

Disturbing thought for the day.

If ICE engined cars have a limited life span now, anything released post 20XX will end up electric, anything post 20XX will be speed capped.

TVR are totally stuffed now? I guess the low volume programs might eak something out but all of these new rules are going to make it even more difficult for them to make a profit in this circumstance.

No wonder they are being so quiet, I do feel sorry for them. Some dark clouds on the horizon when they started turned in a b__tard of a storm for them.

Don't be so glum Alistair it'll be ok there will be a way for us V8 boys, it might not be cheap but who cares - get the Max out and plant that right foot while we still can

Sometimes people realise during an overtaking maneouvre that they've misjudged it and need to put their foot down to get out of trouble.....with a speed limiter there may be no response from the engine at the critical moment.
